Brent Daniel Stephenson

Sep 20, 2022

March 22, 1954 – September 15, 2022

Brent Stephenson passed away after a brief struggle from injuries resulting from a fall. He was born in Ogden, Utah to Keith and June Stephenson and grew up in Clearfield. He graduated from Clearfield High School in 1972 and was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints Clearfield 9th Ward and then the Pleasant Hills Ward in Layton.

When he was 24, he married his childhood sweetheart Terri Gordon on February 4, 1978, and then built a home in Layton. Brent and Terri were married for 44 years before his passing.

Brent worked at the family business, Steve’s Marine on State Street, from a very young age and managed the store until its closing in 2005. Many friends and family will recall Cindy’s Corner fondly where many topics of great import were discussed. After the closing of Steve’s, he worked at Utility Trailer until his retirement in 2015.

He was passionate about hunting, snowmobiling and boating, spending many weekends in the fields, woods and on the lakes of Northern Utah and Southern Idaho. He had a passion for animals, first for training homing pigeons and later hunting dogs. There was always a pointer and flusher at the Stephenson household.

Brent was also a dedicated martial artist from a very young age hitchhiking to downtown Ogden to attend Terry Arnell’s Kenpo Karate classes. Brent made sure his children had a chance to enjoy the fortitude of character earned from a hard workout and a broken toe.

Later in his life as he navigated the physical challenges of aging, he took solace in music and his devotion to rock and roll, especially for the band Chicago who he often referred to as “the Lord’s band.” The Stephenson family and many friends enjoyed live summer concerts or the homemade shows they created by each picking their favorite songs and enjoying them in darkness with lite incense burning while imaginations ran free.

Brent is survived by his wife Terri; children Chad Stephenson (Crystal) of Texas, Keith Stephenson of Washington State, Jenifer Burton (Tim) of North Salt Lake, and Alicia Anderson (Dan) of Roy; brother Mark Stephenson (Lisa) of Clearfield; Sister-in-Law Helen Stephenson of Layton, and three sweet angels, his grandchildren, Rowan, JD and Carson.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Keith and June Stephenson; brother Donn Stephenson; and sister Sharon Bingham.

Funeral services will be held 11 am on Wednesday, September 21, 2022, at Russon Mortuary, 1585 W 300 S, Syracuse UT. Friends may visit Tuesday from 6-8 pm and Wednesday 9-10 am. The funeral service will also be live-streamed at the bottom of Brent’s obituary on the Russon Mortuary website, www.russonmortuary.com. Graveside services will be held at the Clearfield Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, donations would be appreciated to help cover medical costs at America First Credit Union under Brent Stephenson Memorial Services.

The family wishes to thank the staff at Rocky Mountain Rehabilitation Center who went above and beyond to provide considerate and compassionate care.
