Sep 28, 2022

1936 – 2022

Paul Edward Miller, a loving husband, father, and grand-father, passed away on September 24, 2022, at the age of 85, after a 5-year battle with cancer. He was born December 17, 1936, in Peru, Indiana. He was preceded in death by his parents Elmer Carrol Miller and Daisy Bernice Musser along with his 5 siblings. He was the 3rd of 6 children and always said he was the last of the Mohicans because he was the last surviving child.

At the age of 17, Paul joined the Air Force Reserves and then transferred to the regular Air Force two years later. He worked as an airplane mechanic on 21 different types of aircraft. He was stationed in Vietnam and Thailand during the Vietnam war and also spent time in Germany, Canada, and multiple US bases during his career. He served our country for 25 years, retiring in 1979. He was then employed by the Federal Protection Service (FPS) and the Utah Department of Corrections, retiring in 2002.

Paul has 5 children from his first marriage. Paul E. Miller Jr., Theresa S. Vawter, Patrick E. Miller, Preston E. Miller, and Denice Leilani (died as an infant).

Paul met his wonderful wife Ann Carrigan Miller square dancing with the Golden Spike Club in Utah. He became a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in 1977 and they were married in the Ogden temple in 1978. They had 3 daughters Annalyn Miller Dobb, Andrea Miller Hooper, and Cheryl Miller Steele. He is also survived by 19 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren.

Paul served in the Sunday School and, for many years, loved being on the scouting committee. He also served as a temple worker for 2 years in the Bountiful temple. He enjoyed riding his red vespa down to construction sites and being–as he called himself–a “sidewalk superintendent.” Those who spent time with Paul also know he had a lifelong passion for self-reliance and collecting knives and guns.

Funeral services will be held at 11 am on Saturday, October 1st, 2022, at the Crestwood chapel located at 1059 East Crestwood Road, Kaysville, Utah.
