Elizabeth VanDyke Dye

Apr 18, 2023

Elizabeth “Lizzie” VanDyke Dye, a cherished mother, grandmother, and friend, passed away peacefully from natural causes on March 28, 2023. Born on May 23, 1950, in Brigham City, Utah, to Elizabeth Jean Knudson and Harold Richard VanDyke, Lizzie lived a full and vibrant life, always making time to be a loving and attentive presence in the lives of her family and friends.

Lizzie grew up in Brigham City, Utah, alongside her siblings, Richard and Leslie VanDyke. She graduated from Box Elder High School in 1968, attended the University of Wyoming, and went on to complete her cosmetology education from 1970 to 1972.

Lizzie’s professional life showcased her dedication, hard work, and versatility. Her early career began at Idle Isle as an employee from 1960 to 1968. After completing her cosmetology education, she co-owned and worked as a stylist at Main Street Hair Cutters from 1973 to 1978. Lizzie then transitioned into the world of fitness, becoming an aerobics instructor in Brigham City from 1979 to 1983. Her passion for helping others led her to work as a secretarial aid in various law firms and educational institutions, including Langalios Attorney at Law, Farr, Kaufman & Nichols, and the Utah Schools for the Deaf and the Blind.

Elizabeth was blessed with two loving partners throughout her life. She was first married to Brian Glenn Burt from 1971 to 1983. After their marriage ended, she found love again with Kendall Dye, from 1984 to 2013.

Together with her partners, Elizabeth raised a beautiful family of five children: Devin Glenn Burt, Megan Belle Burt, Lindsay Lizabeth Burt, Nina Dye, and Erick Dye. Her children brought immense joy and pride to her life.

Elizabeth’s love extended to her nine cherished grandchildren: Rachel Elizabeth Burt, Sasha Andrews, Seth Andrews, Addelyn Andrews, Audrey Andrews, Noah Andrews, Brielle Andrews, Lauren Lotus, Fynn, and Sydney. These precious grandchildren were a testament to the love and care she provided to her family.

Outside of her professional and family life, Lizzie was a passionate hobbyist. Her interests included baking, sewing, crafting, and aerobic exercise, which she incorporated into her daily life to bring joy to herself and those around her.

Elizabeth “Lizzie” VanDyke Dye will be deeply missed, but her legacy of love, dedication, and commitment will live on through her family and friends. Rest in peace, dear Lizzie.
