Karen Yvonne Roos
Karen Yvonne Roos passed away peacefully in her sleep, surrounded by family at the home of her daughter Debbie, on April 25, 2023 at the age of 85. She was born September 18, 1937 in Afton Wyoming to Leonard and Devon Roos, the first of three children.
Karen attended school in Afton Wyoming and graduated from Star Valley High School where she excelled at acting and singing in stage productions. She married Bill Van Noy in 1955 and three children were born. They lived in various locations in western Wyoming, Idaho, and Utah eventually moving to stay in what was then referred to as Kanesville and the last two of their five children were born.
Here, she pursued her love for music and was known for her great acting and singing in local stage productions. Karen’s talents also extended to her love for sewing which she picked up from her mother, fine cooking, and she had a real knack for re-decorating her home. She found work as an administrative professional in positions with medical records, real estate, and at Weber State University in the Department of Business and the Alumni Center from which she retired. These positions led to many friendships and an income that sustained her beyond divorce and as a single parent for her two minor children at the time.
Karen loved and was loved by family and friends alike and will be very much missed. She was preceded in death by her parents and one grandson, Kristopher.
She is survived by her brother Douglas (Rhonda) Roos, sister Nancy (Kent) Stevenson, children: Debbie (Ron) Cragun, Shane (Rebecca) Van Noy, Lori Adams, Kim (Les) Nicholas, Kelly (Rachel) Van Noy. She also leaves behind 13 grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren and 1 great-great grandchild.
Funeral Services will be held at Myers Mortuary, 845 Washington Blvd in Ogden on Tuesday May 2, 2023, at 12:00 pm, with a viewing prior from 10 to 11:40 a.m.
Interment at Evergreen Memorial Park, 100 N Monroe Blvd, Ogden UT.
