Beverly Ruth Carlson Packer

Aug 1, 2023

1929 – 2023

Beverly Ruth Carlson Packer left this world surrounded by those she loved on July 28th, 2023. She was 94 years young and lived in her own home until her last 3 weeks, 22 years without her sweetheart. She was born in Ogden, Utah on 20 March 1929, a daughter of Charles Arthur Carlson and Martha Jane Tams. She grew up in Willard, Utah. She was proud of the barn there that her father built out of reclaimed lumber that is still standing after more than 100 years. That simple barn typifies her life. One of beauty, strength, and practicality. She treasured her family, the one she grew up in as well as those in her large posterity. Her schooling was in Willard Elementary, Box Elder High School and Weber College. She married William L. Packer on 20 March 1950, in the Logan Temple, and embarked on the family they always wanted. She was a devoted, stay-at-home mother. Later on she was an excellent manager and worked alongside her family in Real Estate, Construction and Cabinet Making. Her service in her many church callings brought her great joy. Being President of the Ward and Stake Primary and Ward Relief Society were highlights. Community groups were also places where she could quietly lead and serve. She was given an award of Honorary Utah State Mother of the Year. But most of all, she served her family. She had 6 children, 33 grandchildren and 116 great grandchildren. One great great grandchild on the way. She knew them by name and loved them all. She made delectable treats so she could always reward whoever visited her or helped her in the slightest way. Cannonballs, Carmels and Packer Pretzels might top the list. Her home turned into a Chocolate Factory at Christmas. Other times of the year she crafted over 432 beautiful needlepoint pictures, and more than 797 quilt tops. This skill was also used in sewing everything from baby clothing to school clothes, to wedding dresses and quilts. She was constantly sewing and thus constantly serving as she blessed the lives of so many with her masterpieces. Her life was lived as a true example of charity, the pure love of Christ. She loved her Savior. Some of that rubbed off onto all who knew and loved her. As soon as her hair turned the most beautiful white, she began to look like the beautiful angel within. Truly a priceless ruby, she was unassuming, quiet, and a powerful listener. In her presence, you knew that you were loved and appreciated as she always pointed to the good in everyone. Her family will treasure always the time spent with her. They are: Jeff (Elaine Poulsen), Gloria (Randy Deem), Janet (Ron Bingham), Kevin (Ann Hale), Ruthe (Carl Wildrick), and Michele (Rod Law). She now joins the rest of her family, along with her husband, Bill Packer; son in law, Kelly K. Beckstrom; granddaughter, Sara Deem; and grandson, Davis Packer. Also, the Ira and Emma Packer Family and the Connie and Jennie Carlson Family. She is the last in these two pioneering family generations. Her funeral will be Saturday, August 5, 2023 @ 1:00 pm in the Box Elder Stake Center, 420 S 800 W, Brigham City, Utah. Viewing that day from 12:00 to 12:45 pm.
