Ellen Bain

1936 ­– 2023

Ellen Holmes Bain, 87, passed away peacefully on July 31, 2023, in Ogden, Utah. She was born May 20, 1936, to Jess Kay Holmes and Hattie Venstra in Ogden, Utah.

She graduated from Weber High School, and married Kenneth J. Bain on July 16, 1958 in Elko, Nevada, their marriage was blessed with three children. They later divorced. Ellen was a Christian and was a member of the Genesis Project Church. She worked as a medical assistant for Ogden Women’s Clinic for many years.

Ellen served in the Foster Grandparent Program for over seventeen years, and volunteered for over 21,000 hours. She also served at her church and various volunteer positions including, The Night to Shine. Ellen was a go-getter and loved walking, dancing and traveling. She loved attending all of her grandchildren’s and great-grandchildren’s activities and school functions. She loved spending time with family and friends at our cabin at Bear Lake.

For now, we find peace and comfort knowing she’s an angel watching over us and that she has been reunited with her loved ones, God and his son Jesus Christ. Mom, Gammie, Grandma Ellie, we all love and will miss you.

Ellen is survived by her children Pam Amman, Jodi Nichter (Mike) and Kenny Bain (Robin), 5 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren and special niece Debra and close friend Roseanne. She is preceded in death by her parents; siblings Gordon Holmes, Phyllis Imel and Delores Mitchell Wise.

Graveside services will be Friday August 11th, 10:00 a.m. at Ogden City Cemetery, 1875 Monroe Blvd., Ogden, Utah.
