Lloyd Beutler

Aug 16, 2023

1940 — 2023

Our thoughtful and loving husband, father, and grandfather, Lloyd Johnson Beutler, 83, passed away peacefully in his home surrounded by family on August 9, 2023.

Lloyd was born August 2, 1940. The second child of Ernest Felix Beutler and Mary Pearl Johnson, Lloyd grew up working on the family farm in Franklin County, Idaho, alongside his eight siblings. After graduating from West Side High School, Lloyd served a mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in northern California. Upon his return he married his high school sweetheart, Kandis Coburn, in the Logan Utah Temple on June 23, 1961.

In 1963 Lloyd and Kandis moved to Plain City, Utah, a community they quickly came to love and cherish. They spent 58 wonderful years in Plain City before moving to North Ogden in 2021.

Lloyd spent several years working as a heavy equipment operator and over the road truck driver before becoming a certified public accountant. His accounting career was spent in the Ogden area where he worked for over twenty-five years at Jetway Systems, eventually becoming Jetway’s CFO. After leaving Jetway he spent many additional years as corporate controller at Pro Pac Labs before retiring in 2011. Beyond his full-time work, he served for twenty-five years on the board of directors of Goldenwest Credit Union–a position he thoroughly enjoyed.

Lloyd was a loving and supportive husband and father. Together with Kandis, they raised eight children and had the joy of welcoming twenty-one grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren into their lives prior to his passing. Their home in Plain City was the gathering place for countless family get-togethers, where their children and grandchildren could enjoy the large backyard garden, spend time on the swing set, or ride 4 wheelers or motorcycles. He will be dearly missed by his family.

While Lloyd loved his career in accounting, he never lost his passion for heavy equipment and all things mechanical. He often recounted interesting and humorous stories of his days driving tractor-trailers or working as an equipment operator at various construction sites. One of his greatest joys during his retirement years was returning to the family farm (then run by a younger brother) to operate the farming equipment or drive a semi-truck during the planting and harvest seasons.

Lloyd was a devoted member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, spending many hours involved in Church-sponsored scouting and youth activities, serving in various Church leadership positions, and, in his later years, acting as the Stake Patriarch for the Plain City Utah Stake. During retirement, he and Kandis also engaged in missionary work in the Utah Ogden Mission in addition to spending time farther from home on assignment to the Florida Fort Lauderdale Mission. In all of these activities, Lloyd lived his faith with a quiet sincerity that was always appreciated by those who knew him best.

He is survived by his wife, Kandis; children Curtis (Darla) of North Ogden, UT; Steven (Julie) of Meridian, ID; Karen (Peter) Wang of Mesa, AZ; Brent (Stephanie) of American Falls, ID; Julie (Shane) Bezzant of Mesa, AZ; Matthew (Marie) of Cincinnati, OH; Michael of Chicago, IL; and twenty grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. He is also survived by all of his eight siblings. He was preceded in death by his parents, his grandson Jeremy Beutler, and his son Bryan (Kamy Ouzts) of Farr West, UT.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, August 19, 2023, at the Plain City LDS Church at 2335 No. 4350 West. Friends may visit with the family from 6 to 8 p.m. on Friday, August 18th, at Myers Mortuary, 845 Washington Blvd., Ogden, Utah and from 9:30 to 10:40 a.m. at the church prior to funeral services. Interment at the Plain City Cemetery.

Lloyd’s service will be recorded and uploaded to his obituary page later in the day at www.myers-mortuary.com
