Lt. Colonel Chase Neil Rogers, USA, Retired, crossed over to the next life on August 17, 2023. He was a resident of Pleasant View, Utah.
Chase was born April 24, 1949, into the lives of Iris Kemp and Grant Potter Rogers. Four years later his brother Scott was also adopted. When their cousin Karen was adopted and became their sister, the family was complete.
Because of his dad’s employment with the federal government, the family moved all over the west. He enjoyed the years in St. George and Santa Clara best. Those were great places to be a kid. Eventually the family settled in Bountiful, Utah. After high school at Viewmont High, Chase attended the University of Utah on an Army Scholarship and graduated with a degree in Business / Finance. The week of graduation in August of 1971 was accompanied by his commissioning in the U.S. Army as an Infantry Officer and marriage to his wife and friend, Rosemary Calder. They immediately departed to Fort Benning, GA, for the Airborne and Infantry Officers Course. This was the first of many “change of stations.” Graduating from the Special Forces Qualification Course at Fort Bragg, NC, set the direction for the rest of his career. While stationed in Panama, the first of their six daughters arrived.
Chase is survived by all six daughters, who like Mary Poppins, are practically perfect in every way, Jessica (Stephen) Dunn, Andrea Rogers, Rebecca (Kent) Reimann, Cynthia (Tim) West, Kristina (Will) Boler, and finally Patricia (Thomas) Draper – who was the surprise baby born in Bad Tölz, Germany. With them, later came seventeen grandchildren. The family’s favorite duty locations were Logan, Utah (where he earned an MBA from Utah State University and then taught ROTC); Flint Kaserne, Bad Tölz, Germany; and Fort Devens, Massachusetts.
His final military assignment was as Deputy Commanding Officer, 10th Special Forces Group. Upon retirement the family returned to Bountiful, Utah, where he became the Operational Planner for Davis School District for another 20 years. Many family changes and personal growth occurred during that time.
Chase is also survived by his sweetheart, Elizabeth (Liz) Ann Jones whom he had the privilege of marrying in May of 2007, adding another five children and ten grandchildren to the flock. Their golden years together were joyous and fulfilling.
Another family was later added, after super-snoopy daughter Cynthia found Chase’s birth father’s family - the Laceys. We all came to love them as a joyous inclusive group.
He was active in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints throughout his life. His favorite callings were teaching Institute within the walls of the military prison at Ft. Leavenworth, and the many opportunities to teach Gospel Doctrine. His faith guided him in his life. Chase was not afraid to die because he knew that Heaven is real and what waited for him is glorious and eternal.
He will be missed by many, especially by HIS geese on the back pond. Perhaps he will finally get his wish to fly away with them.
Chase said his greatest accomplishment in life was “Learning to Love.”
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, August 23, 2023, at 11 a.m. at the Lindquist’s North Ogden Mortuary, 2140 N. Washington Blvd. Friends may visit with family Tuesday from 6 to 8 p.m. and Wednesday from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. at the mortuary. Chase will be buried with full military honors at Ben Lomond Cemetery.
