Deon R Harvey

We are sad to announce the passing of Deon R Harvey, 89, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and aunt on Saturday, August 19, 2023.

Deon was born on April 13, 1934 the first of a set of identical twins, to Jacob Merrill and Vergie Blackburn Rasmussen, in Lapoint, Utah. Deon spent her early years in the Uintah Basin mainly Lapoint where she was surrounded by grandparents and wonderful loving cousins, aunts and uncles.

Deon married Dennis Harvey on June 6, 1950 in the Salt Lake City Temple, the same day her twin sister Veon married Dennis’ brother Jay.

Deon and Dennis bought their first and only home in Sunset in 1955, raising their 8 children and still residing there.

Deon has been a faithful member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints all her life. She served in many positions including Young Women, Primary and Cub Scouts fulfilling each calling to 110%. She must have been a great Relief Society President as she received that calling 3 times in her life.

Deon and Dennis greatly enjoyed traveling, mainly in Utah and spent many happy hours exploring the beauty of Southern Utah. Deon and Dennis loved family history work and spent many years doing research for many of their ancestors so they could receive the blessings of the gospel.

She is survived by her loving husband Dennis, of 73 years, her eight children and their spouses. Paul (Barbara) Harvey, JoAnn (Clifford) Merkley, Pamela (Kenneth) Womack, Bruce (Gayla) Harvey, Dawn Harvey, Craig (Jaimee) Harvey, Ryan (Nikia) Harvey and Burt (Tanya) Harvey. Her sisters Veon Harvey, LaWanna Goodrich, ReNae Schurz and Louise (Glen) Bascom. She is also survived by 35 grandchildren, 78 great grandchildren and 8 great-great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents and older sister, Clythella Trujillo.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday, August 24, 2023 at 10:00 AM in the Sunset Stake Center; 220 W 975 N. Sunset. Viewings will be held on Wednesday, August 23, 2023, from 6:00-8:00 pm at Myers Mortuary, 5865 S 1900 W, Roy, Utah and Thursday, August 24, 2023 prior to the service from 9:00-9:45 AM.

Following the services, the burial will take place in the Tridell Cemetery, Tridell, UT at 4:00 pm.
