Aug 28, 2023

August 26, 1945 – August 24, 2023

Lee Rosenlund, cherished husband, father, brother, grandfather, great-grandfather, and treasured friend passed away peacefully in his sleep at home on August 24, 2023. He was born August 26, 1945, the oldest child of three, to Etta Bowden and Howard Lee Rosenlund Sr. in Preston, Idaho.

He grew up and spent most of his early life in Idaho Falls, Idaho. He had a very close and loving relationship with his sister and brother. He graduated from Bonneville High School in Idaho Falls. His family moved several times then set up home in Ogden, Utah where he attended Weber State College.

He was married to Carol Huff for 22 years. Together they raised three exceptional sons, Gregory, Jeffery, and Christopher. He was a devoted, strict, proud and loving father.

He joined the Utah National Guard, where he met an Ogden City firefighter who convinced him to become a firefighter. He was hired by Ogden City Fire Department in March 1969, where he worked and was promoted through the ranks to retire as a Battalion Chief in 1999. He truly loved his profession and the camaraderie of his fellow firefighters and considered himself extremely fortunate to have followed this career path. He developed several close friendships that continued through his life.

He married Kerry Call Fausett in 1990. They made their home in Eden, Utah where he used his considerable talents as a carpenter, painter and gardener to transform their home into a beautiful peaceful forest retreat. He gained a precious stepdaughter, Tina Fausett Berger with their marriage. He and Kerry were able to enjoy many shared activities such as skiing, fishing, golfing, camping and traveling. They were both able to retire in 1999, which opened the door to more activities and adventures. They traveled extensively by motorhome with a group of firefighter friends and their wives, visiting all the western states, many national parks, the Albuquerque balloon festival, Calgary, Canada stampede, Alaska, and Mexico. If anyone in the group wanted to see something, they all packed up and went. They also went on several cruises and became snowbirds in Yuma, Arizona.

Lee was a talented chef and connoisseur of food and drink who loved to entertain family and friends. He liked to make people laugh and sometimes acted goofy in the attempt. He was fastidious in everything he did, was thoughtful and caring to friends and family.

He loved animals, especially dogs, and coddled and spoiled his Schnauzers.

In the last few years, Lee developed health problems and had to have many surgeries, joint replacements and back fusions. He was often in extreme pain. During this time, he maintained a positive attitude, and tried harder than he should have to take care of things. He often expressed appreciation to those who helped and cared for him. His was a life well lived. He will be so missed.

Lee is survived by his wife of 33 years, Kerry, his sons, Gregory (Nesha) Las Vegas, Nevada, Jeffery (Jodee) Santiago, Chile, Christopher (Eugene) Daly City, California, stepdaughter, Tina (Vic) Berger, Snohomish, Washington, ten grandchildren, and six-great grandchildren, his sister, Pam Brown Meridian, Idaho and brother, Scott (Teri) Rosenlund Boise, Idaho.

A Celebration of Life will be held around the end September. Location, date and time will be on Ogden Fire Department website.
