Darce Lee Barnes

Darce Lee Barnes, 89, of Roy, passed away peacefully on December 1, 2023. She was born on November 14, 1934, the youngest of 6 beautiful girls born to Edward Barnes and Evelyn Field.

Darce graduated from Weber High School and Seminary and later from Stevens Henager College. She worked several years at the American Food Store in Roy as a meat wrapper and more than 30 years as a shipping clerk at Defense Depot Ogden.

Darce loved to travel with friends and family. She was generous and kind and loved to give gifts. She never forgot a birthday. Darce opened her home to family members who needed a place to stay, welcoming several nieces and nephews over the years. She was the world’s greatest aunt.

Darce was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She served in the Young Women and Sunday School organizations in the Roy 1st Ward and as a stake missionary. She was a beloved teacher and leader.

Darce is survived by her sisters Lola Hodgson and Dallas Allen and by many nieces, nephews, great nieces, and great nephews. She adored them and they adored her. She was preceded in death by her parents, Edward and Evelyn Field Barnes and her sisters Marjorie Van Sweden, Venus Thompson, and Beryl Hall.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday, December 6, 2023 at 11:00 a.m. at Myers Mortuary, 5865 S. 1900 W., Roy, Utah. A viewing will be held prior to funeral services from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. at Myers Mortuary. Interment will be in the Roy City Cemetery.
