Alice Viau

Alice Viau passed away on Dec. 11, 2023. She was born on April 15, 1939 in Gilman, Colorado and was the daughter of Josie and Porfirio Padilla. Her family moved to Ignacio, Colorado and then Ogden, Utah. She graduated from St. Joseph’s High School and worked for an insurance company and Boeing before meeting her husband. She married Lt. David L.Viau on September 19, 1964 at St. Joseph’s Church.

Alice spent the next 20 years traveling with her family living the military life. She lived in Ohio, Mississippi, Japan, Kansas City, Virginia, Germany and New York before returning to Ogden in 1981. She visited 30 countries during her travels.

Alice worked at HAFB until retirement. Alice and Dave were married 38 years before he passed in 2003.

Alice loved traveling, dancing, boating, and in her younger years, skiing. She was a member of St. Rose of Lima and was voted Woman of the Year for her contributions. She was also voted Volunteer of the Year for Davis Arts Council. In addition, she volunteered 2,000 hours with Davis Hospital (now Holy Cross Hospital).

She was quite the social butterfly, loved to laugh and dance and enjoyed having a good time.

She is survived by her son Mark, daughter Carol, grandkids Deja and Canyon, sister Estella Colt and niece Lori Casias. She is preceded in death by her parents, Josie and Porfirio Padilla, her husband, David Viau, and her nephew, Stephen Casias.

Funeral Mass will be held Friday December 22, 2023 at 10:00 a.m. at Saint Rose of Lima Catholic Church, 210 S. Chapel St., Layton, Utah. A prayer service with Rosary will be held Friday December 22 at 9:00 a.m. at the church prior to the Mass. Interment will follow after the Mass at Lindquist’s Memorial Gardens of the Wasatch, 1718 Combe Rd., Ogden, Utah.
