Klea Ann Moon

Dec 20, 2023

1939 – 2023

Klea Ann Gray Moon passed away on December 19, 2023. She was 84 years old.

Klea was born on August 5, 1939 in Ogden, Utah to Dayle M. and Norma Herrick Gray. She spent her life in and around Davis County and graduated from Davis High School in 1957. It was at Davis High that she met Phillip R. (Bob) Moon, who she later married on March 16, 1963 in Farmington, Utah.

Klea worked for 34 years at Security Title Company in Farmington, then for ten years at Barnes Banking Company in Layton. She was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, and she treasured her calling at the Bountiful Temple, where she served as an ordinance worker for five years.

A loving wife, mother, grandmother, and friend, Klea was a never-ending source of optimism and support. She showed her care in ways big and small: she nurtured anyone who needed it, encouraged those who were down, and relentlessly believed the best in people and the future. She was embedded in the lives of many, whether they were family members or friends.

Full of life, personality, and expression, Klea never seemed a day over 65. She was an avid reader, loved attending plays at Centerpoint Legacy Theatre, and played bridge with groups of friends for almost 50 years. She had a jingle for every occasion and was known to break into song, bopping back and forth to her own rhythm. She wished everyone a happy birthday by singing to them, cried whenever she heard the National Anthem, and texted with emojis as fluidly as a teenager.

Klea was also an avid sports fan. She watched her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren play almost every sport-from baseball and soccer to volleyball and golf. A regular golfer herself, Klea was proud to be the first one in the family to get a hole-in-one in 1981. (Bob eventually caught up, but it wasn’t until 2007.) She loved the Boston Red Sox and insisted on watching each inning of every game-often recording games to watch later, even when the Sox were terrible.

She was a feisty competitor. Her loyalty to the Red Sox was accompanied by a healthy disdain for the Yankees. She loved to play cards with her family, but she was known to destroy her own hand to prevent even the possibility of handing a helpful card to someone else.

Klea lived life at 120 percent. To say her spirit, love, laugh, and spunk will be missed, and missed by many, is an understatement.

She is survived by her husband, Bob, her two children, Jenifer and Cynthia, her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, and her sister, Vauna Taylor, and brother, Dennis Gray.

She is preceded in death by her parents and two of her brothers, Gary Dayle Gray and Larry D. Gray.
