Shari Lee Vander Heide

Shari Lee Vander Heide, age 74, died December 24, 2023, at home surrounded by her family. She was a dedicated wife, mother, grandmother, and sister.

Shari was born in Butte, Montana, on January 5, 1949, the oldest child of Elmer and Elizabeth Hill.

She married Stanley B Ward on September 1, 1965, in Roy, UT. They had 3 children and they later divorced. She married Samuel Lewis Vander Heide on March 20, 1987 in Roy, Utah. She welcomed 5 more children to the family. She and Samuel were sealed in the Ogden Temple on April 23, 1991. She was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, serving in the Primary and Relief Society. She worked for the Weber County Sheriff’s office as a Dispatcher and later went to work for the Weber County Attorney’s office starting the Victims Assistance Program.

She is survived by her children: Stacey (Kurt) Strong, West Haven, UT; Stephanie (Joe) Akre, West Haven, Utah; Shane (April) Ward, Layton, Utah; Shaunell (Kenyon) O’Hara, Clive, Iowa; Shelley (Thian) Nakasone, Roy, Utah; Connie (Chad) Wright, South Carolina; Tamara (Michael) Gates, Oregon; and Samantha (David) Larsen, Farmington, Utah ; sisters Lisa Vaughn, Clinton, Utah, and Vickie Otterstrom, Farr West, Utah; and brother Michael (Lana) Hill, Roy, Utah; 28 grandchildren, 19 great grandchildren and 2 more on the way.

She was preceded in death by her parents, brother Steven Hill, sister Bonnie Clark; brothers-in-law Randy Vaughn and Wylie Otterstrom; son-in-law Leo McCabe.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, January 5, 2024 at 11:00 a.m., at the Clinton 7th Ward LDS Church, 1448 W. 1800 N., Clinton, Utah. A viewing will be held Thursday, January 4, 2024, 6:00­-8:00 pm at Myers Mortuary 5865 S. 1900 W. Roy, Utah, and prior to funeral services on Friday January 5, 2024, 9:30-10:45 a.m. at the church. Interment will be at the Ogden City Cemetery.
