Lynn Fred Heinze

Feb 6, 2023

Lynn Fred Heinze, age 86, passed away peacefully at his home on February 3, 2023 surrounded by his loving family. Lynn was born October 10, 1936 in Teton, Idaho, to Fred and Jessie Berrett Heinze. The family moved to Utah when he was five years old. Lynn’s childhood and teenage years were full of mischievous fun.

Lynn graduated from Davis High School in 1954 and then attended Weber College. Lynn had an affinity for music–he enjoyed playing the clarinet and was a member of the marching band throughout his time in school.

Lynn’s strong work ethics began at an early age. During summertime, he pushed an ice cream cart around the neighborhoods of Washington Terrace. He also worked at a grocery store throughout high school and college. Lynn honorably served in the U.S. Air Force from 1955 to 1959. He worked as a Munitions Safety Officer at Hill AFB, retiring from service after 37 years. With a desire to fill his days, Lynn continued to work at Autoliv, The Newgate Mall, and the IRS.

Lynn married Kathleen Call on April 27, 1962 in the Salt Lake City Temple. The couple resided in Sunset, Pleasant View, and North Ogden, Utah, where they made many wonderful friends and raised a beautiful family.

Lynn had a strong testimony of the gospel and read scriptures every day. As a faithful member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, he diligently served in several callings throughout his life, his favorite being an Ordinance Worker at the Ogden Temple.

Lynn loved his family dearly. He is survived by his wife, children Jeff Heinze, Annette (Troy) Hardy, Jeni (Brad) Kendrick, Steven (Brandee) Heinze, and Me’Chell (Kelly) Thomas, 15 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren, brothers Buck (Linda) Heinze and Richard (Iris) Heinze, brother-in-law Val Denton, nieces and nephews, and many friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, sister Kay Heinze Denton, and grandson J. Scot Heinze.

Viewing Tuesday, February 7, from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the Ben Lomond 4th Ward Chapel at 3350 N 1050 E, North Ogden, Utah. Funeral services held Wednesday, February 8, at 11 a.m., viewing at 10 a.m., at the Ben Lomond 4th Ward Chapel. Funeral arrangements provided by Leavitt’s Mortuary.
