Ione Hunsaker Higley
February 10, 1945 – February 26, 2023
Our dear mother, grandmother, great-grandma, sister, aunt, and friend, Ione Higley, returned home to her loving Heavenly Father on a cold snowy Sunday, February 26, 2023, surrounded by her family. She was born on February 10, 1945, in Brigham City. At 6 months old, Savilla Rohwer Hunsaker started the adoption process and it was finalized when mom was 3 years old. Mom was raised on the family farm west of Brigham City.
She graduated from Box Elder High School, where she was involved with FFA and Color Guard.
She met the love of her life, Dallas R Higley, they were married September 6, 1962, in Evanston, WY, and later sealed in the Logan Temple. Dallas passed away on February 22, 2010.
Ione is a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Mom worked for the Brigham City Police Department. She was a dispatcher and went on to become a Police Officer.
Ione is survived by her daughters: Christie (Dan) Petersen of Honeyville, Patty (Scott) Carter, Brigham, Nicole (Dustin) Richards Brigham and daughter-in-law: Sam (Richard) Yates Mantua; one brother Fred R (Sharon) Hunsaker; Sister Darlene Marcovitch and brother-in-law Ed (Lana) Brangal, Malad; 11 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren, and 2 God children: Gary (Jack) Thorpe and DeOnn (Cory) Tremelling.
She was preceded in death by her mother, husband, son: Daniel Higley, and great-grandson: Owen Barnard.
The family appreciated CNS Home Health and Hospice, Karl, Collette, and Jason.
Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, March 4, 2023, at 12:00 p.m. at Myers Mortuary, 205 South 100 East, Brigham City, Utah. Viewings will be held the night before on Friday, March 3, 2023, from 6:00 - 8:00 p.m. and prior to the service from 10:30 - 11:30 a.m. at the mortuary. Interment will be in the Brigham City Cemetery.
