Donnette Butler
1937 -- 2023
Donnette Lou Dean Ralph Butler, 85, passed away peacefully on January 1, 2023, she was living with her daughter Kim at the time. Mom was born September 7, 1937, in Murray, Utah, the younger of two daughters (sister Carolyn Thompson) to Leo and Lois Neff Ralph. She grew up in Grandview Acres. She graduated from Ogden High School and Weber State College where she served as president of the Otyokwa Sorority. She met Kenneth Lee Butler on a blind date where he mistook her mother for her at the door. The two were married for eternity in the Salt Lake Temple on June 3, 1960. They are the parents of four children: Brett (Becky), Kim (Dee) Morse, Lance (Jodi), and Nikki Wilks. Mom has 15 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren.
Mom lived for over 53 years in Plain City, Utah. After her children were all in school, she started working as a reading specialist in the Weber County School District where she made several lifelong friends.
Mom was a faithful member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She served in many auxiliary and other church callings, but her favorite callings were serving a mission with Dad in the Micronesia Guam Mission and as an ordinance worker in the Ogden Temple. For several years, until the COVID pandemic Mom attended the temple weekly with some of her children.
Mom is preceded in death by her husband, both parents and several extended family members. She spoke with anticipation about seeing them again.
The family wishes to thank McKayla and Melaine from Utah Home Health and Hospice for their loving care when Mom's health was failing. Also, a special thanks to Mom's dear friend Sharon. Brett, Lance, and Nikki would like to thank Kim and Dee for their selfless care of Mom these last three years.
Funeral services will be Saturday, January 14, 2023, 11 am at the Plain City 6th Ward, located at 2335 N. 4350 W., Plain City, UT. The family will greet people prior to the service from 9:3010:30 am. A viewing will be held on Friday, January 13, 2023, from 6-8 pm at Myers Mortuary, 845 Washington Blvd., Ogden, UT.
