George Scott Jr age 82 passed away peacefully at home, under the care of his family and hospice in Fredericksburg Virginia on Thursday, January 6, 2023. Our heavenly father stretched out his arms to embrace the spirit of a precious loving patriarch, father, grandfather, cousin and friend.

George Scott Jr. was born August 11, 1940 to the union of George Scott Sr. and Jessie Ann Richard in Texarkana, Arkansas. He married Marvine (Molly) Hoskins April 26, 1961, who proceeded him in death 2007. They had 7 children (Tyrone, Carlis, Van, Georgette, Tara, Debbie and Zena) and resided in Ogden Utah.

George attended the National Technical School in CA in 1967, and held varies jobs and retired as a Machinist II from Parker Hannifin Corporation 2002 where he received multiple honorary awards for being an exemplary employee. He was a member of the Masons for 22 years. He made various contributions to the Salivations Army, Big Brother & Sister club, churches and various Utah African American Community organizations.

His passion was traveling, he loved to drive he once said “I love the open highways it allows me to think”. He most enjoyed spending his leisure time with his family and friends. He was blessed to have his cousins (Thomas Holston and Cicero Scott) since childhood to be an instrumental part of his life. He also enjoyed playing cards, dominoes and, going to the movies.

George was dedicated father, grandfather, brother, cousin and, friend. He always gave freely with no expectations. Even in his time of need he continued to put others first. He will especially be missed because of his kind heartiness, generosity and a shoulder to lean on.

He was proceeded in death by his father; George Scott Sr, mother; Jessie Ann Anderson, sister: Ella Richard, brother: Jessie Scott, Galveston Scott, Sylvester Scott, Donald Scott, children: Carlis Scott, Steven Scott, and countless cousins.

George leaves to cherish his memories, his siblings Bennie Mae Hopkins of Stockton, CA and Darletha Scott, his children, Tyrone (Rachel) Scott, Jeffery Scott, Van Scott, Georgette (Bobby) Keith of Virginia, Tara Steward, Debbie (Martin) Fuller of Virginia and Zena (Larry Jr.) Ingram of Virginia, 17 grandchildren, 25 great grandchildren 2 great, great grandchildren and a host of family and friends.

Viewing service will be held Friday, January 20, 2023, 6pm-8pm at Myers Mortuary of Ogden Utah. Funeral service will be 10am for viewing and 11am for service Saturday, January 21, 2023 at Griffin Memorial Church of God in Ogden Utah.
