Maria Elia Ramirez (Romero)

Jan 27, 2023

January 6, 1949 — January 5, 2023

Our momma, Maria Elia Ramirez (Romero) gained her heavenly wings January 5, 2023. She was born January 6, 1949 in Calera Zacatecas Mexico to Pedro and Elvira Romero. She moved to Ogden Utah at a young age with her family and raised her six children there until she moved to Santa Maria in 1982. Eventually all children followed her to California, started and raised their own families. Mom loved to crochet with her dear friends, and you knew you were special if you received a blanket to celebrate a milestone in your life. She went out of her way for family and friends. It was an easy natural gesture for mom to share her home or a meal with those in need. She enjoyed meeting and talking to people while working as a hostess at Wendy’s. She took pride in her work and the success of her children and grandchildren. She was the #1 loudest grandma in the stands watching her boys. She would do anything for her grandkids, even giving them her last dollar to buy candy from the food truck. She was an avid Dallas Cowboys fan and enjoyed her Sunday afternoons with her family watching the game. She was grumpy if her house wasn’t clean and you knew she was cleaning if her love, Vicente Fernandez was playing in the background. She made the best chicken mole, frijoles, rice and beef enchiladas.

She is preceded in death by her parents and brothers Conrad and Arturo Romero. She is survived by her sister Elsa (Antonio) Chavez, bothers Raul (Cheryl) Romero, Pedro Jr. (Juana) Romero, Leandro (Dina) Romero, children, Tina Manzanares, Judy (Carlos) Codero, Jesse Manzanares, Ricky Lopez, Emma (David) Garcia, and Marivel (Junior) Ortiz, 14 grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren and 2 great great grandchildren.

Mom, your life was a blessing, your memory a treasure… You are loved beyond words and missed beyond measure.

A mass and celebration of life will be held in her honor spring of 2023 in Santa Maria CA.
