David Lawrence McDermeit

We invite all who knew him to celebrate the life of David Lawrence McDermeit, who passed away on Saturday, June 3, 2023. Better known as Dave, he was born on March 11, 1960, in Mildenhall, England, a son of James Earl and Marla Urish McDermeit. His parents later divorced and his mother, Marla married Angelo Reyes. Dave was a loving and loyal soul who brought joy to those who were fortunate enough to know him.

He graduated from Box Elder High School in 1978.

Dave married Shauna Mitchell on February 22, 1980 in the Logan Temple. They had three rambunctious boys, Scott, Derek and Justin. They were later divorced.

He was proud of his career and his achievements, including his retirement from Northrup Grumman in 2020 after 42 years. Dave was working at Hill Air Force Base currently in composite. Dave had a zest for life that was evident in his many hobbies, such as hunting, golfing with his sons, playing poker, he passed down his love for baseball, basketball, football (Las Vegas Raiders) to his sons, and was able to continue that love by refereeing and umpiring many games throughout the state for many years. He also loved to ride his Harley Davidson and was a member of the Fraternal Order of the Eagles #2472 in Ogden, Utah.

He was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints.

He is survived by his sons, Scott (Jamie Hester) McDermeit; Derek (Lacy Rasmussen) McDermeit; Justin (Stephanie) McDermeit; his sister, Judy Dalton; his brother, Daniel McDermeit; and 11 grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his father, James Sr.; his mother, Marla Reyes; step-father, Angelo Reyes; brother, James Jr.

His memory will live on in the hearts of his family and friends, who will forever cherish the time they spent with him.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, June 24, 2023 at Davis Park, 455 W 900 N., Brigham City from 4:00 to 7:00 pm. Please wear your favorite Raiders or Harley gear!
