Colleen Elliott Newman, passed away on February 28, 2023, with her husband and great-granddaughter by her side. Following a valiant 12-year battle with Alzheimer’s.

She was born on November 20, 1937, in Provo, Utah. The second daughter of five children under the Elliott name. Her parents were Verl and Bessie Mae Morgan Elliott. She was raised by her grandparents Lee and Teresa Morgan.

Colleen spent her first 15 years in Provo up to Junior High, 1 year in American Fork High School and 6 months in Pleasant Grove High School and then graduated from Springville High School in 1956.

Colleen met her sweetheart Jay Newman, after a high school basketball game in December of 1954. Their courtship started in March of 1955. They married shortly after on July 19, 1956, in the Logan Temple. They were together over 69 years.

Colleen and Jay’s first home was in American Fork, then they moved to Pleasant Grove, where their family began Jackie was born in 1957, Randall was born in 1960 and Lori was born in 1962. Jay was employed with the Air Force and NASA which took their family all over the United States. In 1969, they moved to Garden Grove, CA. 5 months later their family relocated to Tucson, AZ. In 1974, they moved to Littleton, CO. In 1975, one full year later, they moved to Perry, Utah where their family finally settled. Interesting note, Colleen’s name has been placed on the Moon in Mars.

Colleen enjoyed every move and often discovered many new and interesting things. Throughout her moves, she made many new friends and became everyone’s grandma. She loved Old Tucson, frequently visiting all the movie sets and meeting the movie stars.

Colleen was a seamstress and enjoyed sewing. She worked at a variety of sewing stores, she was the last employee of Baron Woolen Mills.

Colleen was a talented woman, she spent many hours making dance costumes, ceramics, porcelain dolls, quilts, and stuffed animals. She loved baking and cooking.

She loved the outdoors, hunting, camping, and fishing with her family. Colleen was very patriotic. She truly loved the Military and her Country. She never missed an air show and loved the sound of the jets.

Colleen was a very generous person, everything she made she gave away, around Christmas she gave almost all the stuffed animals away to children in need. She had a very giving heart. She was the best woman in all the world, a true example of Christ-like love. Colleen earned the titles, wife, mom, and grandma.

Survived by her husband Jay, her son Randy (Kellie) Newman, her daughter Lori Ann Muir, 9 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren. Also survived by her siblings: Tim (Dawn) Elliott, Claudia (Jim) Hopp and Glenn (Pat) Miller.

Preceded in death by her grandparents, her parents, her daughter Jackie, granddaughter Jamie, sisters Shirley and Janet, and brother Bill.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, March 10, 2023, at 11:00 a.m. at Myers Mortuary, 205 South 100 East, Brigham City, Utah. A viewing will be held prior to the service from 9:30 ­- 10:30 a.m. at Myers Mortuary.

On Saturday, March 11, 2023, the family will hold a viewing in Pleasant Grove, 942 North 500 East, Pleasant Grove, Utah, from 12:00 ­- 1:00 p.m. with a time of sharing at 1:00 p.m. Followed by the interment at the Pleasant Grove Cemetery at 2:00 p.m.
