Guy Warr

May 2, 2023

Guy Warr saddled up his horse and rode into the sunrise at 6:15 a.m. on March 21, 2023. He entered the heavenly realm where the wind will always be at his back, the coffee warm, and the maple bars fresh.

He was born in Almo, Idaho, on February 27, 1935, to William Ray and Edith Louise (Taylor) Warr. He graduated from Heyburn High in 1953, and later moved to Nampa, Idaho to attend telegrapher school in hopes of working for the UPRR. On October 3, 1958, he married Doris Bunn. His job with the UPRR took them to Payette, Idaho, Clearfield, Utah, then West Haven, Utah where they resided for more than 40 years.

Guy was a true cowboy and grew up on and around horses. He often talked about the old Nevada “tin house” where his mom cooked three meals a day for 30 ranch hands. He and his brothers would follow the dusty trails from the bunkhouse to the bars searching for coins the ranch hands might have dropped. If they were lucky, they could buy a nickel soda. Guy was resilient having survived a horse kick to the head, rheumatic fever, multiple broken bones, heart attack, and cancer but even tough old cowboys can’t outrun age.

Guy was preceded in death by his parents and brothers Lloyd and Frank Warr. He is survived by his daughter Monica (Matt) Schwenk, son Mitch (Brooke) Warr, granddaughters Brittani (Ely) Charles and Shyloh Warr, three little great grands, and brother Hal (Tracy) Warr.

Heartfelt gratitude to the caregivers at PeachTree Place Assisted Living and A Plus Hospice.
