Vickie JoAnn Cardwell

May 11, 2023

Vickie JoAnn Cardwell, age 70, passed peacefully on May 9, 2023, in Layton, surrounded by a loving family.

Vickie was born August 25, 1952, to DeLoy E Bench and Joyce Janet Green in Provo, Utah. She was raised in Layton, Utah and graduated from Layton High School. Vickie was the eldest of 10 siblings and helped raise her sisters and brothers.

Vickie married the love of her life, Adam Frank Cardwell. They lived a full happy life together, residing in California and Utah. They enjoyed wonderful adventures throughout their marriage and loved to travel to Mexico and Las Vegas. They always walked together hand-in-hand.

Together they had two beautiful daughters, Desiderata Aceves and D’Artagnan Zamora. And were blessed with 8 grandchildren and 1 great-grandchild. Vickie was an amazing grandmother, often called Gramcracker, Little Grandma, GiGi, and Momma Jo.

Vickie had an excellent work ethic, inherited from her father. She worked all her life in administration and accounting. And then retired to live with family in Las Vegas, NV. She made so many special friendships with co-workers and was loved by all.

Some of Vickie’s hobbies were crocheting, card & board games, puzzles, crafting, but most of all she enjoyed spending time with her family, and her grandchildren were her precious treasures. She was a “foody” and loved to go on lunch dates with family and friends. She would say, “I want a party in my mouth!!” Vickie enjoyed all the holidays and never forget anyone’s birthday. She’ll always be remembered as the aunt who sent a birthday card every year.

Vickie had a unique gift of making everyone feel that they were the most important person in the room. She always acknowledged everyone and made friends everywhere she went. She was a respecter of all persons and genuinely loved everyone. She had a heart of gold.

She is survived by her children, Desiderata Aceves and DáArtagnan Zamora, 8 grandchildren, and 1 great-grandchild.

She is preceded in death by her parents and her loving husband.

Vickie’s viewing will be open to the public on Friday, May 12, 2023, from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. at Lindquist’s Layton Mortuary located at 1867 N Fairfield Rd, Layton, Utah.
