Sherma Fae Stanger Mildon

May 22, 2023

February 11, 1935 — May 19, 2023

Sherma Fae Stanger Mildon — loving wife, mother, sister and friend — passed away in her home on May 19, 2023. Her husband of 66 years, Luke, and their three children were by her side.

Throughout her entire life, Sherma’s family was her top priority. Luke described her as his “right-hand person.” She helped him with everything life brought their way, from building their home in Uintah to raising their family. Luke said she was a “supermom” who took care of Brian, Sonya (Hill) and Melinda (Rhodes) when he was frequently on the road for work. Her role as the home economics president at Wahlquist Jr. High is evidence that even before she met Luke at Weber High School, she had goals to be a great homemaker.

Sherma had many interests outside of her family. As young adults, Luke and Sherma joined a square-dancing group and made lifelong friends. Their circle took many motorcycle trips together, played pranks on one another and had regular card game nights. They’ve supported each other through the ups and downs of life.

She knew practically everyone in Marriott, where she lived as a teenager and a newlywed. She served as a Young Women’s advisor and had a great time participating in road shows. Many of the girls she taught kept in touch with her long after she moved. She also made many friends working as the Uintah Town Clerk for over two decades. Sherma never wanted to live in a big city. She was always a “small-town kinda gal” with a large heart.

The family would like to thank everyone from Intermountain Homecare and Hospice who took care of Sherma over the years, especially Diana Higgs and Julie Lee. They went above and beyond their role of caregivers, becoming good friends of Sherma and her family.

Friends and family are invited to pay their respects at a viewing on Wednesday, May 24, from 6-8 p.m. at the Uintah LDS chapel located at 6660 S 1775 E, Uintah. A viewing will also be held on Thursday, May 25, from 9-10 a.m. at Leavitt’s Mortuary located at 836 36th Street, Ogden. The funeral service is scheduled to begin at 10 a.m. at Leavitt’s Mortuary. Interment at Uintah City Cemetery.

Floral arrangements are welcome, but you might instead consider giving Luke something suitable to plant in his flower garden to honor her.
