May 26, 2023

1936 - 2023

Sunday, May 21, 2023, Harry (Ray) Adolph Rael passed away peacefully at the age of 87 in his home due to natural causes.

Ray was born on January 19, 1936, in Longmont Colorado to Adolph J. Rael and Maria Lucinda Martine. He was the youngest of 10 children. He met the love of his life Betty Mary Hufstetler in the Summer of 1952. They were married on June 23, 1954, in Kingman Arizona. The two shared nearly 70 years of marriage together before his beloved Betty's passing in late 2020.

In earlier years Ray worked for his eldest brother Phil at Rael's Plumbing and Heating until he began working for the Southern Pacific Railroad in 1959. Ray enlisted in the Army National Guard until he received an honorable discharge. He later retired from the railroad in January of 1990.

You could always find Ray with his four Children and Grandchildren camping, boating, hunting, and fishing, at his favorite places in the world, Sheep Creek Cove, Bearlake, or somewhere on Strawberry Reservoir. Betty and Ray were fortunate to have an opportunity to help raise their grandson Ray Jr. He enjoyed playing cards with his wife, brother, and sister-in-law Keith & Linda Hufstetler, and playing pool with his sons and grandchildren. In his later years he became an avid golfer making friendly skin wagers with some of his cherished friends on the green and always bragging about his hole in one. He never let retirement be boring, he kept busy spending time with his kids and being a full-time grandpa & great grandpa (aka "Jerk" or "Spanky").

Ray proceeds his death by his beloved Betty. Ray is survived by his four children Cyndy (Kevin) Daniels, Randy (Stacey King) Rael, Scott (Andie) Rael, and Paul (Cathy Wilson) Rael. Together they had 18 Grandchildren, 27 Great-grandchildren, and 2 Great -Great Grandchildren. A Viewing will be held in his honor Thursday June 1, 2023 from 6-8pm at Leavitts Mortuary 836 36th St in Ogden, UT. 84403 Funeral services will be held Friday June 2nd, 2023, at 2pm.
