Robert William Zundel

Robert William Zundel died May 22nd, 2023, peacefully at his home in Willard, Utah. He was born November 23, 1937, in Moab, Utah to parents Alan D. Voorhies, and Ethel Ruth Myers. They divorced soon after, and in 1938 Ethel met and married Stephen Ulysses Zundel. Stephen adopted Robert. He was the oldest of the Zundel family. He grew up in Willard, Utah with six brothers and sisters – Steve (Carol) Zundel, Norma Dee (Roy) Torgeson, John (Marla) Zundel, Ramona (Clyde) Westley, Louis Wynn (Sherry) Zundel, Richard (Diane) Zundel.

Robert graduated Box Elder High School class of 1956, and soon after was employed at Hill Air Force Base as a Computer Analyst working on the F16 Project. He retired from HAFB after 34 years. He joined the Army and was in the Army Reserve as a Tank Driver.

In 1965 he met and married Nellie Margaret Perkins. They had four daughters, Julia (Reid) Lott, Deborah (Marc) Allred, Lisa (Robert) Parish, and Laura (William) Hodgins. They later divorced.

In 1983 he married Sharon Walker and they had two sons, Robert Antony Zundel, and Jeffery Stephen (Rebecca) Zundel. They were later divorced.

He had 15 grandkids, Christopher Gailey, Robbie Thompson, Emmalee Thompson, Melissa Peavler, Amber Wyatt, Sarah Jeppson, Alissa Richardson, Talease Jones, Kaden Allred, Jayci Martin, Nicholas Martin, Cole Bennett, Brek Bennett, Cody Peterson, Laria Peterson, Dawson Hodgins, Brooke Pooler, and Luke Hodgins and had 22 great-grandchildren.

Robert enjoyed hunting, duck hunting, fishing, and trapping. He enjoyed working on and spending time on the family farm where he could spend all his days if you let him. He liked to go to the various cafes for coffee where he could spend time with friends and flirt with the waitresses. He loved going back to Moab to visit family and wished he could do more of that.

He is survived by three of his brothers and two of his sisters, his four daughters, and one son. He is preceded in death by his mother Ethel Zundel, father Stephen U. Zundel, Brother Steve Zundel, Son Robert Zundel, Grandson Robbie Thompson, and Great- grandson Beckam Richardson.

The family would like to thank the McKay Dee Wound Clinic for all they did for him, Dr. Markeson’s office and staff, and Atlas Home and Health Care especially Ronel for being there for him.

Funeral Services will be held Saturday, June 3, 2023 at 11:00a.m. at the Willard LDS 1st Ward chapel 80 North 100 West, Willard, UT. Viewings will be held on Friday, June 2nd from 6 pm to 8 pm at Myers Mortuary 205 South 100 East Brigham City, UT and Saturday, June 3rd from 9:30 AM-10:45 AM at the church prior to the funeral services. Interment will follow in the Willard City Cemetery 470 n Main St. Willard, UT.
