Susan May Ellsworth

Susan May Ellsworth, 82, passed away peacefully at her home surrounded by family and friends on Saturday, September 30, 2023 in Farmington, Utah. She was born to Donald and Alleen Betsinger on March 30, 1941 in Los Angeles, CA and grew up in Arcadia, CA. She later moved to Utah.

Susan married Michael Clyde Ellsworth on July 30, 2011. She shared in a very loving and happy home with Mike from that day until her passing.

Susan had many passions that included, hiking, swimming, animals, climbing trees, and playing softball. Beach trips were a great treat for her where she was able to body surf at Laguna Beach where her grandfather lived.

Susan’s greatest passion became sewing and quilting. She was taught to sew by her Mother and her abilities took her to many levels from her dresses in High School to creating children’s clothes. She sewed for her four daughters and their friends. She made prom, graduation, bridesmaids, and wedding dresses. Susan also did alterations on the side to support her children while working full time. Her talent for quilting and making all other kinds of items from quilts to table runners to handbags and etc. was something that she shared with others and will remain treasures for all who received them from her.

Susan was employed by Caltech where she worked from 1979 to 1994.

Susan became an active member of Alcoholics Anonymous on February 27th, 1981 and remained a member until her death. Her commitment to this program allowed her to live a happy and fulfilling life through love and service to others. Susan helped a countless number of women find the same blessings through her sponsorship and friendship. She was an inspiration to those she met and nurtured within this fellowship.

Susan was Preceded in death by two loving Husband’s: Robert Leo Thomas Burns and Dennis Neal Montgomery.

Susan’s greatest accomplishment was raising her six children and adding another daughter from her marriage to Mike. Paula Sue Farris, James Donald Thomson (Penny), Patricia June Thomson (Scott), Pamela Thomson Strom, Penny Jill Hannan (Patrick), Kim Stauffer (David), and Korinne Hale (Andrew). Her children gave her 15 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren.

Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, October 14, 2023 at the Mountain Road Evangelical Presbyterian Church located at 796 S Mountain Road in Fruit Heights. There will be a viewing at 9:30 am followed by services at 11:00 am.

Following the services, she will be buried at the Farmington City Cemetery, 500 S 200 E, in Farmington.
