Alan Chugg Heslop

Oct 10, 2023

May 7, 1934 — October 6, 2023

Alan Chugg Heslop passed away peacefully at his home in West Weber, Utah on October 6, 2023, with his loving wife and daughters at his side. Alan was born in Ogden, Utah May 7, 1934, to Leila Ida Chugg and Herbert Spencer Heslop. He married Kay Folkman on June 15, 1961, in the Logan LDS Temple. They recently celebrated their 62nd wedding anniversary.

Alan was a faithful member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and was highly regarded by members of his ward. He was a high priest and served in various callings throughout his life as well as supporting his wife in her callings. His favorite calling was being a Guest Service Missionary on Temple Square with Kay. They had many wonderful experiences during this time. He also made close and lasting friendships serving with the Bishopric as Assistant Finance Clerk.

He lived all of his 89 years on the Heslop Family Farm in West Weber farming with his parents and helping his wife raise their four children. He continued using his John Deere tractor until three weeks before his passing. He always had a horse and enjoyed riding. After many years of coaxing, he talked Kay into getting a horse of her own, and they made wonderful memories riding in the mountains together and with a special group of friends. In addition to horses, Alan also enjoyed anything with wheels beginning with roller skates around his mother’s kitchen table, to bicycles, motorcycles, four-wheelers, sports cars, trucks – even his lawn mower and ending with his beloved John Deer tractor. Spending time with his family working in the yard, camping and traveling were the things that brought him the greatest joy. He loved attending his grandchildren’s sporting and music events.

Alan graduated from Weber High School and attended Stevens-Henager College. After serving his country for two years in the US Army, he was employed by IRS and then DDO. After his retirement, he found his passion rebuilding cars.

Alan is survived by his wife Kay, his daughters Robin Johnson, April (Bob) Sanders and Tina (Ben) Craner, nine grandchildren, and six great-grandchildren who he loved dearly and three sisters in-law. He was preceded in death by his son Glen Alan Heslop, his parents and his four siblings.
