David Glenn Anderson

David Glenn Anderson, 84, of Ogden, Utah, passed away on October 3, 2023. He was born on December 28, 1938, in Salt Lake City, Utah. David was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather, writer, poet, compassionate community builder, collector, and a friend to all.

David is survived by his loving wife of 63 years, Sharron Parkinson Anderson, and their children: Tonya (Miles) Simmons French, Kristin Heulitt, Chad (Tammy) Anderson, Kyle Anderson, Nikol (Robert) Aagaard, 17 grandchildren and 27 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Letitia Curtin. His son-in-laws Edward Simmons and Bruce Heulitt and daughter-in-law Cathy Anderson.

David attended Ben Lomond High School and went on to pursue higher education at Weber State University, where he earned two BS degrees in political science and history. He was also a proud veteran, having served in the Navy from 1959 to 1963. During his time in the Navy, he worked as a journalist at Schools Command, Treasure Island CA, and on USS Ticonderoga CVA-14.

After his military service, David embarked on a successful career. He worked as a computer specialist and journalist for the Hilltop Times at Hill Air Force Base until his retirement in 1994. Throughout his life, David remained passionate about writing and was a published poet.

In addition to his professional achievements, David dedicated his time and energy to various community organizations. He was actively involved with CONduit, Utah’s former science fiction and fantasy convention, where he made significant contributions behind the scenes. He also advocated for developing young readers through his involvement with Reading for the Future and served on the staff of four WorldCons.

A celebration of David’s life will be held on Saturday, October 21, 2023, from 3pm to 5pm at Premier Funeral Services, located at 5335 1950 W St, Roy, UT 84067.

David Glenn Anderson will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and all who had the privilege of knowing him. His legacy of kindness, creativity, and dedication will forever be cherished.
