Warren William Holmgren

Warren William Holmgren was born August 27, 1942, to Opal Mattice and Alfred William Holmgren in Long Beach, California. He spent his growing up years in Garden Grove, California. He married Ella Brooks and had 2 beautiful daughters, Debbie and Tammy. They later divorced.

He was married again to Dee Knoch in 1976. They have spent 46 years together. Warren and Dee moved to Roy, Utah in 1977 along with Dee’s children. They made many good friends and had great neighbors. Warren was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He served in many callings within the Elders and High Priest quorums.

Anyone who knew Warren knew he loved trains. He spent a good amount of his time taking pictures of the latest and greatest locomotives coming into town. Warren and Dee owned a business in the Union Station in Ogden called Warren’s Train Shop. They worked there for many years. Train yards in Colorado were often their vacation spots.

Surviving Warren is his wife Dee Holmgren, his daughters Debbie Holmgren and Tammy (Bill) Lapthorne, and stepchildren Ken (Jana) Knoch, Kris (Brad) Barker, and Bobby Knoch. He also has 17 grandchildren, and 26 great grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his parents Opal and Alfred, sister Barbara Wisner, and stepdaughter Kori Sorensen.

The family would like to give special thanks to Lomond Peak Nursing and Rehab, Active Hospice and his most recent roommate Michael Jensen. Michael was a wonderful friend and angel during the last few months of his life.

Funeral services will be held at 11 am on Tuesday, October 17, 2023 at Mount Lewis 3rd Ward, 435 N. Jackson Ave. with a view prior from 9:40 to 10:40 am. Interment, Evergreen Memorial Park.
