Oct 17, 2023

Alice Ann Espenschied Hall Way Penton passed away peacefully at home, surrounded by her family on October 14, 2023. She was born September 24, 1932 at home in Hartville, Ohio, to Virgil Floyd Espenschied and Iva Mae Cramer Espenschied. She attended Hartville Elementary and High School and Heidelberg College. Her school days and friends remained near and dear to her all of her life.

She married her high school sweetheart, Carlos Fowler Hall, on February 23, 1952. They had three beautiful children who provided them with so much love, pride and pleasure. The family moved to Morgan, Utah, in 1965, to manage the F. E. Schumacher Co. They were blessed to have so many dear friends in Morgan. Alice was employed by the Schumacher Co. and retired from the Browning Company. Carlos passed away in 1985.

Alice married John W. Way in 1986. He educated Alice on the great outdoors the country roads the ice fishing. He always referred to Alice as “Big Al”. His family and friends were very dear to Alice. Jack passed away in 1997.

Alice married Robert G. Penton in 1999. They had many wonderful trips including a trip to Bob’s homeland of New Zealand. Bob and Alice spent much time with family and friends during their marriage. Bob passed away in 2005.

Alice loved to decorate her house for the seasons and to entertain kids and grandkids and friends at parties for holidays or for no reason. She spent many fun hours playing hide ‘n seek, hide the thimble, pool, treasure hunts, and always a traditional Christmas bingo party. Alice also enjoyed writing jingles and poetry. She loved to do something fun each day and believed that a sense of humor was the most essential element to a happy life.

Alice is survived by her son, Blayne (Charlene) Hall and daughter Janet (Ernie) Brimley, son-in-law, Todd (Pat) Knowles, 16 grandchildren, 25 great grandchildren, and 3 great great grandchildren. She is also survived by sisters-in-law Cheri Espenschied and Pat Whitaker, and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her daughter, Tracey Lynn Knowles; her husbands, Carlos F. Hall, John W. Way, and Robert G. Penton; her sisters Lois Meyer and Jayne Lehmann; her brothers Ted and Jim Espenschied; and her great granddaughter, Pepper Rose Hall.
