Eddie Richard Valdez

Oct 22, 2023

1941 – 2023

Ogden – Our loving patriarch completed his earthly journey surrounded by his family, on a beautiful, starlit Autumn morning of October 20, 2023.

He was born on February 22, 1941, in Del Norte, Colorado to Mike and Mary (Pacheco) Valdez. He married his love, Josephine Noriega on May 27, 1960, in St. Mary’s Catholic Church when she was just 17 and he was 19. This year they celebrated 63 years of marriage. From this union, they were blessed with four children; Edward (Dawn) Valdez; Joyce Nevarez, Denise (Bill) Sanders, Dennis (Tiffany) Valdez, 10 grandchildren, 13great-grandchildren. His blessed life revolved around family.

Eddie had a passion for life and lived it to the fullest. He enjoyed horseback riding, hunting, fishing, camping, a great conversation, any sporting event, rodeo, or activity with his family.

He is survived by his children, and his wife, brother, Robert E. Valdez, sister, AnnaMarie (Ron) Willie and many nieces and nephews all who adored him.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his brothers; Ross Valdez, Mike V. Valdez, sister, Helen and brother-in-law, Roger Mascarenas, and his in-laws Jim and LaVon Noriega.

Eddie was a member of Saint James the Just Catholic Church. As small children, he and his brothers served as altar boys and were raised with prayer, respect, and reverence, and strong spiritual beliefs.

As children, he and his brothers worked alongside their dad as little ranch hands, meticulously groomed by their mother. This immaculate style was a trademark throughout his life.

Special thanks to Dr. Firth and the staff at Applegate Hospice for their loving care of Eddie.

Funeral Mass will be held at Noon on Wednesday, October 25, 2023, at Saint James the Just Catholic Church, 495 No. Harrison Blvd., with a viewing prior from 10:45-11:15 am and Rosary at 11:15 am. Interment, Evergreen Memorial Park.

Arrangements entrusted to Myers Mortuary, 845 Washington Blvd., Ogden.
