Steven Dean Compton

Oct 30, 2023

July 4, 1957 – October 27, 2023

Steven Dean Compton, born on July 4th, 1957, passed away Friday morning October 27, 2023. In July he finally reached his dream of retirement which was then cut short with a sudden heart attack.

Steven was born and raised in Brigham City, Utah and spent the remaining forty years in Honeyville, Utah. He grew up laboring on the family farm, where he developed his skills and interest to fix anything. You could always find him wearing his pliers and flashlight on his hip with a soapstone in his pocket until the day he died. He idolized his father and wished he could have been half the man he was, if only he realized and knew how much others idolized him.

Steven was an example of hard work and dedication, spending his career as an Industrial Mechanical Technician at Kimberly Clark. He also worked at Infiltrator Systems, Southern Post, American Greetings, and Fram.

He built his oasis by crafting his home, property, and shop, which became his security with lots of memories. He found joy in seeing the fruits of his labors, including gardening, tending his property, and tinkering in his shop which was like a second home. A Jack of all trades, he was always building a piano, no matter the project. He loved music and cranked up his stereo when it was a good song. He was a wonderful storyteller. A simple question was thoroughly explained. He took great pride in his full head of “blonde” (white) hair.

Steven was not an active member of the church but was a firm believer of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Steven had a kind and tender heart, always willing to lend a hand or share his knowledge. He was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother and son. Above all, Steven was a devoted family man. He and his wife, Becky, shared a love that endured for over 41 years. They built a beautiful life together, with true love through all the rough times. Steven was immensely proud of his five children and adored his 14 grandchildren, as well as his dog Sage. He is survived by his wife, Becky; his children, Heidi (CJ) Gerritsen, Candace (Matt) Dicks, Jennifer (Brody) Flitton, Allison (Tyler) Worthy, and Benjamin (Tanya King) Compton; his siblings, LuAnn (Bob) Phippen, Kelly (Laura) Compton, and Brian (Shauna) Compton; his sister-in-law, Kristie Roberts; and his brother-in-law, John (Deb) Roberts; his grandchildren: Nicholas, Taylor, Jayden, Kayson, Ashlynn, Cameron, Aspyn, Karter, Alyvia, Jackson, Kade, Maylee, Kinslee, and Max.

Steven was preceded in death by his parents, Dean and Carol Brown Compton, his brother Michael, sister-in-law Laurie Scothern (Compton), nephew Chase Compton and father in-law LaMar Roberts.

The family would like to give a special thanks to the Box Elder Sheriff’s Department and the First Responders for their devoted efforts in attempting to revive Steven.

A viewing will be held on Wednesday, November 1, 2023, from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. at Myers Mortuary in Brigham City, Utah. An additional viewing will take place on Thursday, November 2, 2023, from 9:30 – 10:30 a.m. at the Honeyville LDS Chapel, followed by a funeral service at 11:00 a.m. Interment will be in the Call’s Fort Cemetery in Honeyville.
