Sherma Kay (Bosgieter) Fernelius

Sherma Kay (Bosgieter) Fernelius, 85, passed away in Ogden, UT on September 19, 2023. She was the oldest child born on February 19, 1938, to Simon Bosgieter, Jr and LaVene Southwick Bosgieter. She was raised in Roy, UT and graduated from Weber High School and attended Weber State College.
She married Gerald McMasters in 1959. They had two children before they divorced. She then married Clarence Donald Fernelius on April 19, 1969. They were sealed in the Logan Utah Temple on July 2, 1970. They also had two children together. Sherma lived in Dover, DE, Tacoma, WA, Uintah, UT, Roy, UT and Ogden, UT.
Sherma was a very faithful member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints serving in many organizations. The calling she enjoyed the most was ministering to others.
She loved nature, painting pictures for others, sewing, reading, talking with her life-long friends, and spending time with her family. The family always enjoyed their many family summer vacations.
Sherma worked as a county clerk, ran a successful home daycare while raising her children, worked at Ogden Clinic, and cared for the less fortunate.
Sherma is survived by her four children, William (Alison) Fernelius, Amber (Randy) Hansen, Stacy (Stacy) Richan, and David (Heather) Fernelius. Sherma has 14 grandchildren and 25 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, C. Don Fernelius; her son, Ricky LeRoy McMasters; her parents, Simon and LaVene; her brother, Monte Bosgieter; and her sisters, Mary Bosgieter and Letitia McDowell.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, September 23, 2023, at 11 a.m. at the Roy Stake Center, 5127 South 2400 West. Friends may visit with family on Saturday from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. at the church. Interment will be at the Roy City Cemetery.
The family would like to give special thanks to the caregivers and medical personnel that provided for her needs especially this past week.
