Shirley Lorraine (Adams) Shaner, West Haven, Weber County, Utah, USA, passed away peacefully at the age of 87 on Sunday, September 24, 2023, at Lotus Park Memory Care. Shirley was born November 11, 1935, to Edgar and Annie Blanche (Learning) Adams.

Shirley was married for 48 years to George William Shaner, married on August 30, 1958, in Bolivar, New York, USA. Shirley was born and raised in St. John’s, Newfoundland, Canada; she moved to Bolivar, New York, USA, when she married. Shirley traveled to many of George’s U.S. Air Force (USAF) assignments before settling in Roy, Weber County, Utah, USA, where George retired from the USAF.

She was actively involved in the Hill Air Force Base Chapel; she was a 60 plus year member of the Eastern Star; she was an active volunteer at the Hill Air Force Base Library, the Ogden Rescue Mission, the Girl Scouts of America (a volunteer Leader), and many other organizations.

She enjoyed knitting, cross-stitch, crochet, needlepoint, listening to music, reading, and spending time speaking on the telephone with her family, which is spread across the USA and Canada.

Shirley is survived by her sisters, Daphne Louise Adams (Arthur) White, Elizabeth Blanche Adams, and Margaret Rose Adams Rodgers; a daughter, Janet Lynn Shaner; a son, Michael Eugene (Janell Marie) Shaner; and her grandchildren, Morgan Brianna Shaner, Sterling Bailey Shaner, Logan Michael Shaner, and Sydney Adele Shaner; as well as her ‘Grand dog’ “Belle”. Shirley is also survived by many nieces and nephews located throughout Canada. Shirley was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, and several siblings.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, September 29, 2023, at 11 a.m. at Lindquist’s Ogden Mortuary, 3408 Washington Blvd. Friends may visit with family on Friday from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. at the mortuary. Interment, Lindquist’s Memorial Gardens of the Wasatch, 1718 Combe Rd.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to The Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson’s Research or the charitable organization of your choice.
