Bonnie Scott Maruri

Apr 9, 2024

July 13, 1928 — April 4, 2024

Bonnie peacefully passed away on April 4, 2024. Her journey was blessed with love, companionship, adventure, travel, and lots of chocolate. Bonnie’s life was shaped by a wonderful childhood spent on 17th Street in Ogden, where she was raised by her parents, David A Scott, and Lola Stone Scott, alongside her treasured siblings Dorothy, Lue, Brent, and Lynn. It was there that she cultivated a deep appreciation for patriotism, music, bonds of family, and friendships that endured until the very end. Bonnie was a proud Ogdenite through and through.

Education carried Bonnie forward, from Ogden High School to Weber College, where relationships blossomed, and old ones flourished. Following a fortuitous date, Bonnie married Frank Maruri. Together, they were fortunate to nurture their children–Tomas, Brian, Mary Frances, Ann, and Becky–in a unique neighborhood teeming with diversity, shared values, and the purest moments of her adult life.

In the passage of time, Bonnie bore witness to the departure of many cherished souls, none more heart-breaking than the losses of her husband, Frank (1980), and son, Tomas (2011). It seems she may have outlived most, if not all, of the old neighborhood’s inhabitants, her dear friends akin to the Golden Girls and countless others. Know that her affection for each of you endured until the very end.

Bonnie found solace in the accomplishments she achieved: raising exceptional children, diligently serving as both homemaker and employee, dedicating herself to numerous community causes, gardening, cooking, fostering a deep spiritual connection through the teachings of the Benedictine Sisters, and embracing the spirit of adventure always. Bonnie’s career and volunteer work included Cutter Laboratory, Saint Benedict’s Hospital, Junior League of Ogden, Seager Memorial Clinic, and Gold’s Gym where she was a water aerobics instructor.

As Bonnie embarks on her next great adventure, she will experience a joyous reunion with those who have departed. Bonnie is survived by her children, twelve grandchildren, sixteen great grandchildren. Until we meet again, may peace and love guide our paths.

Bonnie’s family would like to express gratitude to Cindy, JaCoy, Stephanie, and Mary Ann from Elevation Hospice, in addition to the staff and residents at Treeo South Ogden.

A Mass will be held at Saint Joseph Catholic Church on Friday April 12, 2024, at 11am. A Celebration of Life will follow at The Monarch 455 245h Street. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to Seager Memorial Clinic (https://seagerclinic.org/).
