Patricia Ann Dawson

Apr 9, 2024

Patricia Ann Dawson, who was tired of reading obituaries noting others’ courageous battles with this or that disease, wanted it known that she lost her battle on April 4, 2024.

True to Pat’s personal style, her final hours were spent joking with medical personnel while whimpering and cussing for narcotics and bargaining with God to look over her grandbabies. She loved her family.

Her heartbeat faster when her husband of 43 years, Paul Wibert Dawson, entered the room and was saddened when he left. Her legacy was the good works of her sons, Vincent Gonzales and Donald Gonzales and her daughter, Jennifer Van Beuge.

Pat’s back straightened and chest puffed up when she heard the Star-Spangled Banner, and tears ran when she heard Amazing Grace. During her life she excelled at mediocrity. She loved to hear and tell jokes, especially short ones due to her limited attention span. She had a lifelong love affair with bacon, butter, cigarettes and bourbon. You always knew what Pat was thinking, much to the dismay of her friends and family. Her husband said of Pat, “She was often wrong, but never in doubt.”

She died at the University of Utah Hospital and was sadly deprived of her final wish which was to be run over by a beer truck on her way to the liquor store to buy booze for a double date to include her husband, Rush Limbaugh and Ann Coulter to crash an ACLU cocktail party.

In lieu of flowers, Pat asks that you all get rip roaring drunk at home with someone you love or hope to make love to. Word of caution though, don’t go out in public to drink because of the alcohol related laws our elected officials have passed due to their inexplicable terror at the sight of a MADD lobbyist and overwhelming compulsion to meddle in our lives.

No funeral or service will be held. All of Pat’s friends and family will be asked to gather at The Thirsty Horse on April 20, 2024 at 4:00 pm. To have a drink and wonder, “Pat who?”

A private family mass will be held to honor her.
