Mildred Sparks

1927 — 2024

Our beloved, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and sister, Mildred Jenkins Sparks, 96 returned home with honor on April 7, 2024, in Plain City Utah. She was born December 30, 1927, in Plain City, Utah to L. Rulon and Ellen Myers Jenkins. She graduated from Weber High School and Weber State College.

Mildred married David Eskelson in 1947 in the Salt Lake Temple. Together they had 2 children, Eileen & Lon. They were later divorced. She married George Sparks in 1962. Together they had 2 children, Craig and Brent. George passed away in 1972. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Ogden Temple.

Mildred worked at the Defense Depot Ogden in Budget and Finance where she retired after 36 years. She also volunteered at the of America First Credit Union at Defense Depot Ogden.

She served a mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in the London England South Mission working on the British 1881 Census Project.

Mildred is survived by her children Eileen (Gaylen) Roberts, Lon (Lauri) Eskelson, Craig Sparks and Brent (Cheri) Sparks, 17 Grandchildren, 42 Great Grandchildren and 11 Great Great- Grandchildren and a sister, Ellen Lou Tarran.

Mildred had a firm testimony of Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ. She served faithfully in many callings and loved to attend the temple. She was passionate about genealogy research and devoted much of her life to finding and binding families together.

Funeral Services will be held Monday, April 15, 2024, 11:00 am, at Plain City Stake Center 4576 W 2125 N Plain City, Utah. Viewings will be held Sunday, 6-8 pm at Myers Mortuary, 845 Washington Blvd, Ogden, Utah and at the church prior to services 9:30-10:30 am.

Interment will take place in the Plain City Cemetery.
