Frank Nathaniel Winder
February 16, 1950 — April 6, 2024
The world lost a bit of color on Saturday, the 6th of April – yet it isn’t lost; it just resides in heaven now. In the vibrant tapestry of life, Frank illuminated every corner with his boundless love and his endless teasing and shenanigans.
Born to Arvel and Nellie (Travis) Winder on February 16, 1950, despite occasional bouts of grumpiness, Frank’s journey was marked by warmth, kindness, and an unwavering devotion to those he cherished. He loved without limits. No matter the trials of his own day, Frank’s sole aim was to bring a smile to the faces of those around him. His heart knew no bounds, and his spirit embraces with compassion (most of the time ??).
Frank married Julie Ann McCloy on May 11, 1984. They crafted a life together that filled them with love and joy.
Frank leaves behind the love of his life, Julie, who shared in his joys and sorrows, weaving a lifetime of memories together. He is also survived by his brother, Roger (Marg) Winder, his sister, Deanna Powell and sister-in-law, Donette Winder, as well as brother-in-law, Don McCloy, along with countless nieces and nephews who were touched by his fun-loving presence. Awaiting him with open arms in the eternal embrace are his parents, Arvel and Nellie Winder, his siblings, Arvella Allen, Travis and Neal Winder, as well as brothers and sisters-in-law, Cecil Powell, Ethan Allen, Susan McCloy, Barbara Jones, Keith and Judie McCloy, his mother and father-in-law, Wilford and Emma (Bowman) McCloy and several nieces and nephews who will undoubtedly be delighted in the mischief.
Frank’s heartbeat in rhythm with the animal kingdom, but it found its true melody in the company of his cherished cats, among whom he had earned the title of the cat whisperer, for his uncanny ability to communicate with and understand them.
A proud veteran, Frank served his country with honor during the Vietnam conflict. His commitment to duty and country echoed his patriotic soul. After Frank completed his service, he briefly worked alongside his father at Model Laundry before embarking on his career with the Department of the Air Force. He eventually retired from the Defense Logistics Agency.
An avid bowler, Frank’s skill on the lanes was legendary. As a left-handed bowler, he achieved the pinnacle of perfection with a remarkable 300 game, a testament to his dedication and talent.
As fate would have it, Frank passed away on his mother’s birthday, a beautiful gift symbolizing their eternal bond. Frank’s love for his family and friends knew no bounds, intertwined with his passion for sci-fi and his unwavering devotion to the Beatles timeless music.
The family wishes to express their sincere gratitude to Dr. Jared Morris, Eric Hartvigsen and the dedicated team at Symbii Home Health Care, and the staff at Pine View Rehabilitation Center. We also express our gratitude to Weber Fire District, Roy City, and the Weber County Sheriff’s Department for their compassion and assistance during Frank’s passing.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, April 20, 2024, at 11 a.m. at Lindquist’s Roy Mortuary 3333 W. 5600 S. Roy, Utah 84067. Friends may visit with family on Friday, April 19, 2024 from 6 to 8 p.m. and on Saturday from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. at the mortuary.
Interment, Hooper Cemetery.
