Jill Johnson Kienast

Apr 12, 2024

1956 – 2024

Jill Johnson Kienast, 67, former resident of Ogden, passed away peacefully surrounded by family at her home in Thailand on April 2, 2024. Born October 21, 1956, Jill was the youngest child of George L. and Phyllis R. Johnson. Jill grew up in Washington Terrace and was both a student at, and employee of Weber State College where she met her husband Val Kienast whom she married on October 2, 1979. Her husband’s career as a geologist took them to live in several states as well as the countries of Angola and Thailand. Jill was always energetic and adventurous and loved downhill skiing, scuba diving, golfing, rafting, and hiking. She was an avid animal lover having been known as a child to bring more than a few stray dogs home to the room she unfortunately shared with her germophobic sister. Growing up in Washington Terrace, Jill was a fun loving, up-for-anything kid whose antics and impromptu dance performances at the Terrace rec center would mortify yet another sister. Jill was an optimistic, empathetic, nurturing soul and in addition to loving and caring for her family, she volunteered at a children’s orphanage in Angola and fostered animals in Thailand. She will be missed by all who loved her including her three sisters, Darla Johnson Faulhaber (FL), Denise Johnson Green (UT), Geri Johnson (VA), and her caregiver, Duongduean Promkasikron (Thailand), whom the family would like to thank for her loving and attentive care of Jill over the last two years. Jill is survived by her husband Val Kienast (Thailand), her daughter Suzann Kienast-Brown and grandchild Milo Brown (Bozeman, MT), and daughter Nicole Kienast Huffine (Colorado Springs, CO). Jill’s memorial will be held in May in Colorado Springs, CO.
