Bessie Mae Wadsworth

Apr 18, 2024

May 13, 1926 — April 17, 2024

Bessie Mae Cornia Wadsworth, our beloved mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, passed away peacefully in her sleep on April 17, 2024.

Bessie was born the 5th child to Osro Lewis Cornia and Fuchsia Fern Holbrook and was raised in Woodruff, UT. She loved growing up on a large ranch with her eight siblings. After high school, she spread her wings and moved to Portland, OR for a time before returning to Utah to marry the love of her life.

Bessie married her eternal companion Robert Cheney Wadsworth on December 15, 1946. They were later sealed on June 13, 1967, in the Logan Utah Temple for time and all eternity.

While they lived most of their lives in Utah, they enjoyed spending two years living in Alexandra, Virginia. True to form, they took the opportunity to travel all around the area and take in the history of our great country.

Bessie enjoyed many hobbies during her life including traveling and road trips (Bob loved to drive!) cruising, boating, fishing, and skiing. She spent many years with her family going down to Lake Powell both camping and on a houseboat. She taught most of her grandkids how to waterski (pretend you’re sitting in a rocking chair), and she was always first to participate in the family evening swim and water fight!

Bessie loved her many years of teaching primary in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints as she always enjoyed being around children.

Throughout her life she hosted many holiday parties and dinners, including this last Christmas, even after suffering a stroke and spending three weeks in the hospital earlier in the month. She loved having her family around her and was happiest when puzzling and chatting with her girls of all ages. She always had a puzzle set up in the living room for anyone to help with.

Bessie is survived by her three children, Robert, Tamara (Gregory) Daich, and Lori (Kevin) Coombs; 11 grandkids, Nathan (Stephanie), Kimberly, Mistie, Bryant (Madelyn), Melissa (Grant), Curtis (Joselyn), Kyle (Shayla), Matthew (Morgan), Clayton (Lauren), Melody (Lance), Jennifer (Andrew) and 36 great-grandkids. She was preceded in death by her late husband, Robert; one grandchild, (Alan); several great-grandchildren, her parents, and siblings.

A graveside service will be held in her honor on Saturday, April 20, 2024, at 10:30 a.m. at Lindquist’s Washington Heights Memorial Park, 4500 Washington Blvd. Services are entrusted to Lindquist’s Ogden Mortuary.
