Marilyn Ruth Jackson

Apr 19, 2024

With a mischievous glint in her eye and a penchant for laughter, Marilyn Ruth Jackson bid farewell to this world of natural causes and under her terms on April 11, 2024, at the sprightly age of 86. Born on October 16, 1937, she was embraced into existence by her loving parents, Ivin and Ruth Jackson.

Marilyn’s escapades led her through the hallowed halls of Ogden High School, graduating in 1955. She embarked on the noble quest for knowledge, earning her degree in Elementary Education from Utah State University in 1959. For 36 uproarious years, she wielded her wit and wisdom in classrooms across La Habra, California, the Salt Lake City District, and her beloved stomping grounds of Ogden, Utah. Retirement beckoned in 1995, but Marilyn’s passion for molding young minds remained as vibrant as ever.

Marilyn’s love for dogs was second only to her love for a good plot twist, and she surrounded herself with a pack of merry bearded collies who surely had a few tricks up their furry sleeves. When not corralling her canine companions, she could be found lost in the pages of a book, leading her fellow book clubbers on literary adventures that would make even the most daring explorer jealous. In a finale fit for a globe-trotting daredevil, Marilyn embarked on jet-setting adventures across the globe with her cherished friends. As the curtain closed on her final act, Marilyn left behind a legacy of laughter, love, and the occasional well-timed quip.

While her parents and brother may have beaten her to the punchline, Marilyn leaves behind family and friends, including her four nephews, one niece, a great-niece, and a sister-in-law.

In a final act on Earth, Marilyn requested that those bidding her adieu do so with a gesture of kindness, directing donations to the local animal shelter in lieu of somber bouquets. And so, on April 13, 2024, Marilyn was gently laid to rest beside her beloved parents, the echoes of her laughter mingling with the whispers of the wind. Though her earthly journey has come to a close, her laughter will forever echo in the hearts of those who had the privilege of sharing the stage with her.
