Apr 26, 2024

September 14, 1931 — April 17, 2024

Ernest Nunez 92, passed away peacefully in his sleep on April 17th. He was born and raised in Green River, Wyoming to Parfiria and Santos Nunez.

He met the love of his life Mary in Green River. Mary and Ernest were married on October 25, 1952. They were always with each other until the passing of Mary on April 11, 2015.

Dad was the most loving and caring man ever; he loved his family dearly and worked hard to take care of them.

He also enjoyed helping other people and judged no one. Everybody was his friend. He helped many organizations, The salvation army, Veterans, MS society, The Heart Institute, Cancer research, Catholic services and many more.

Ernie was a long-time resident of Ogden, Utah and was a member and Usher for St. Joseph Catholic Church in Ogden for many years.

He worked for the Union and Southern Pacific Railroad for 43 years, he belonged to the Union Pacific Club #6 (old timers club) which he really enjoyed attending and traveling with his wife Mary.

Ernie enjoyed going to the Senior center to eat, dance and visit with his friends. He enjoyed Gardening and eating Taffy! Everyone loved Ernest, he was happy, funny, and grateful. A true optimist.

He loved to have dinners and visit with his family, and we loved being with our ol papa.

He surely will be missed. The world has lost a great man, and the heavens received a beautiful angel.

Ernest is survived by his son Ernest v. Nunez, daughter Jeanne Barnes, son in law Ken Barnes, five grandchildren: Philip R. Barnes, Kenneth H Barnes III, Jacob R (Mindy) Barnes, Ernesto (Xiangji) Nunez, Eduardo Nunez; four great grandchildren: Isabella M. Lucero, Matthew J Barnes, Emeree J Barnes, Aleena M Barnes and family friend Jason Lucero.

Ernest was preceded in death by his wife Mary and Granddaughter Amanda.

Dad, we love and miss you so very much, it’s time to rest until we meet again. You will always be in our heart.

The family would like to express their appreciation to all the doctors, nurses and friends at McKay Dee hospital, Ogden Clinic and Mt. Ogden health and Rehab who cared for him and did their very best to treat and keep him comfortable.
