Carilyn PATE Bunpai
1969 – 2024
Not ever seeking a Reason to be in the Press, Carilyn–a feature-photo personality of the Standard Examiner–has now claimed her own byline on the in-Memoriam Page. After a brief illness, Carilyn passed away unexpectedly, yet peacefully at home on Tuesday, November 26, 2024, age 55.
Carilyn delighted in the company of her children, Allison and Shai, and has benefited from and was reinvigorated by her grandson, Anthony Frank, during her high adventure ‘babysitting’ enterprises.
Born August 15, 1969, Carilyn was the fourth child of Carolyn Harding and Alvin Strauser Pate. She is survived by a daughter, Allison Cervantes (Robert); a son, Shai Thomas; a grandson, Anthony Frank Cervantes; her siblings: Penny Gillett, Daniel H. Pate, Jason H. Pate (Jodi), Travis H. Pate, Frank J. Hammond II (Denise), David Hammond (Beverly), Paige Chaskelis (Aaron); her stepfather, Frank J. Hammond; and many nieces and nephews. She was employed by Smith’s and had an amazing ‘work family.’
Services will be Tuesday, Dec. 10, 2024, at 10:30 a.m., at Aaron’s Mortuary 496 East 24th Street, Ogden, Utah; Procession: 11:15; and gravesite Dedication at Ogden City Cemetery (NE Corner): 11:30 a.m. www.aaronsmortuary.com
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests a donation be made to Smith’s “Zero Hunger / Zero Waste” https://thekrogercozerohungerzerowastefoundation.com/, to the Joyce Hansen Hall Food Bank https://ccsutah.org/programs/joyce-hansen-hall-food-bank, or a charity of your choice.
