Richard Arnold Green

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our beloved father, grandfather, and husband, Richard Arnold Green, who left us peacefully at home on December 2, 2024, at the age of 84. He faced the challenges of heart conditions and Parkinson’s Disease with remarkable courage over the last decade.
Born in Harlem, Montana, on March 14, 1940, to Julius Carl Green and Josephine Catherine Hellman (affectionately known as Juke and Josie), Dick was the second of six children. He cherished his upbringing alongside his four brothers and one sister.
After graduating high school, Dick served three years in the Army, embodying a spirit of dedication and service. Following his military service, he embarked on a fulfilling career in the grocery and restaurant industries, working in various roles until his retirement.
In 1983, Dick married Karen Burgess, and together they embraced a vibrant blended family of ten children. Their love story spanned over 41 years, filled with laughter and unwavering support for one another.
Dick had a passion for collecting antiques, including green depression glass, old clocks, coins, and National cash registers. He was an avid football fan and enjoyed engaging in political discussions. A lifelong newspaper reader, he found joy in staying informed about the world around him. Known for his great sense of humor, Dick brought smiles to the faces of family, friends, and even wait staff with his lighthearted jokes.
In 2006, Dick retired and relocated to Ogden with Karen, where they built a life rich in love and memories. He is preceded in death by his parents; his older brother Frank; his younger brother Robert (Bob); and his beloved daughter Sarah.
Dick leaves behind a legacy of love and strength that will be cherished by many. He is survived by his devoted wife Karen; his nine children: Dean Brashear, JJ Brashear, Stephanie Bake (Eric Frost), Bonnie (Brent Wilson), Jason Bake (Courtney), Ryan Green (Cortney), Jennifer Bake, Kevin Bake, and Eric Green; as well as his sister Nancy and brothers Jerry and Fred. He is also survived by the 19 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren he adored.
Richard Arnold Green will be deeply missed but lovingly remembered by all who had the privilege to know him. His spirit will live on in the hearts of his family and friends.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, December 13, 2024 at Malan’s Peak Ward, 1643 26th Street with a viewing prior from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. Interment Layton Memorial Park, 1867 N. Fairfield Rd., Layton. Services will be live streamed and can be watched by going to Dick’s obituary page at www.myers-mortuary.com where condolences may also be left for the family.
