Glenna Young Becker
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Glenna Young Becker, who returned to her Heavenly Father on December 5, 2024, due to complications from Interstitial Lung Disease and pneumonia. Glenna was born on May 16, 1952, at McKay Dee Hospital in Ogden, Utah, to Ina Paul Young and E. Russell Young VI.
Glenna was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend whose vibrant spirit touched everyone she met. She is survived by her devoted husband, George Becker, and their blended family: her children Amy Hartman, Timothy (Marisa) Ryan, Wendy (Jesse) Shelton; her stepchildren David (Valerie) Becker, Tiffany (Tim) Andersen, Jeremy (Rebecca) Becker, Ryan (Angie) Becker, Eric (Jannelle) Becker; son-in-law Tony Servin; twenty-seven grandchildren, and ten great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her mother, Ina Paul Young Hansen, and her siblings DeAnne (Joe) Wiberg, Barbara (Jim) Burt, Deb (Jack) Legge, and Paul (Debbie) Young.
She was preceded in death by her father, E. Russell Young VI, her beloved daughter Heather Leigh Ryan-Servin, and her nephew Nicholas Paul Legge.
Glenna’s early years were spent in Ogden, where she attended Horace Mann Elementary before moving to Bountiful, Utah, in 1962. She graduated from Bountiful High School and went on to attend Brigham Young University on an art scholarship, majoring in art. It was at BYU where she met her first husband, Terry Lee Ryan, and together they had four children.
Her creativity knew no bounds. Glenna earned her cosmetology license and operated a successful permanent makeup business. Her artistic talents and entrepreneurial spirit shone through her professional endeavors and personal projects. Later in life, Glenna returned to Bountiful to care for her mother, demonstrating the selflessness and compassion that defined her.
In 2021, Glenna met the love of her life, George Becker. They married on March 19, 2022, and began a joyful final chapter of her life filled with adventure. Together, they traveled the country, explored trails, cruised to exotic destinations, and cherished the simple joys of gardening, cooking, and hosting family and friends.
Glenna was a woman of boundless talent and interests. She loved painting, sewing, baking, reading, theater, and water aerobics with her friends. A revered storyteller by her grandchildren and talented hostess, she brought warmth and creativity to every gathering. She was a devoted member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, serving faithfully in the Relief Society of the Plain City 8th Ward.
Known for her kindness, generosity, and infectious smile, Glenna made everyone feel valued and loved. She had an eye for beauty and a knack for making ordinary moments extraordinary. Whether dressed for a grand event or a camping trip, her grace and charm were always evident.
The family extends their heartfelt thanks to the ICU staff at Intermountain Health McKay Dee Hospital for their compassionate care during Glenna’s final days.
A viewing will be held on Friday, December 13, 2024, from 6:00 to 8:00 PM MST at Myers Mortuary, 845 Washington Blvd, Ogden, UT.
A second viewing and celebration of life will take place on Saturday, December 14, 2024, at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 2952 N 4200 W, Plain City, UT. The viewing will be from 9:30 to 10:30 AM MST, followed by the funeral service from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM MST.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made in Glenna’s memory to the YCC Family Crisis Center.
Glenna will be deeply missed but fondly remembered as a light in the lives of all who knew her. Her legacy of love, kindness, and creativity will endure in the hearts of her family and friends.
