Janice Ostlund

Feb 20, 2024

1942 — 2024

It is with profound love and deep respect that we remember the life of our beloved Janice Ostlund, who was affectionately known as “Jan” by those close to her. Born on November 24, 1942, in Minneapolis, Minnesota, Janice was a charismatic force of nature, her ambitious spirit guiding her through an adventurous life filled with tenacity, resilience, and unwavering dedication to her family. Her light has always been a beacon for us, and although she departed from this world on February 5, 2024, she continues to shine brightly in our hearts and memories.

Janice was a woman of innumerable talents and interests. She was the epitome of an independent woman, having been a successful self-employed property manager. She relished her hobbies, from casting a line to catch the biggest fish, to shooting targets with precision, to crocheting intricate designs, and spending countless hours reading captivating novels. Janice was also a dedicated member of the Lady’s Auxiliary VFW. Yet, it was her love for her family that truly defined her. She was adored by her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, who will fondly remember late-night classic movie sessions and engaging tablet games, courtesy of their ever-enthusiastic grandma. Janice’s resilience, ambition, and dedication were inspirational, proving that she was, indeed, a hard-working woman who always found a way to achieve what she wanted.

Janice is survived by her cherished family, who are better for having had her in their lives. They include her daughter Anita White; her granddaughters, Alex (Brody) Conger and Amanda (Nik) Brent; her sister Jean (Dan) Hoverman; her great-grandchildren, Cora, Taron, Ryker, Kadence, Kashton, and Kamdan; and her grandson-in-law Brody (Alex) Conger. She was preceded in death by her parents, Willard Chew and Marguerite Krause, her beloved spouse, Vernon Ostlund, her sister Patricia Nielson, and her brother William Chew.

“Those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint.” (Isaiah 40:31). This verse embodies the essence of Janice’s life. Her unwavering faith, like the powerful wings of an eagle, lifted her through the trials of life and now, has undoubtedly carried her into the arms of her Savior.

We encourage everyone who knew Janice to share their memories and upload photos to the memorial page at www.myers-mortuary.com. Through these shared memories, may we continue to celebrate Janice’s extraordinary life and the love she had for us all.
