Yvonne Saunders

1929 – 2024

Anna Yvonne Stucki Saunders, known to family and friends as Yvonne. Yvonne, our loving mother, grandmother, great grandmother, great great-grandmother, sister, and friend, passed away on Tuesday, February 27, 2024 surrounded by her family at her home in Brigham City, Utah. She was born on August 10, 1929 in Idaho Falls, Idaho, a daughter of Gottfried and Louie Ann Sharp Stucki. Yvonne graduated from Ucon High School in 1947. Yvonne married her sweetheart, Donald M. Saunders on September 3, 1947 in the Idaho Falls Temple. Donald preceded her in death on March 14, 2019. Yvonne was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, a long time member of the Brigham City 12th Ward. She served as a Relief Society President and in various other callings. She and her husband, Donald served as ordinance workers in the Ogden Temple for 4 years. She was a member of the Ladies Community Club, where she was selected as the Woman of the Year in 2014. She was also a member of the Box Elder Symphonic Choir and the Melodears. She loved singing, fishing, gardening, flower arranging, writing poetry, acting, traveling, painting with water colors and serving others. Yvonne loved sending personal birthday cards to all of her family and filled them with a two dollar bill or a Sacagawea dollar coin. Surviving are her nine children, Dennis (Sandra) Saunders; Charlene (Don) Zwonitzer; Gale (LeeAnn) Saunders; Renae (Tom) Doxey; Evan (Elizabeth) Saunders; Marilyn (Orson) Thompson; David (Mandy) Saunders; Maureen (Robbie) Horne; Tamara (Terry) Palmer; 42 grandchildren, 97 great grandchildren, four great great-grandchildren, two siblings, Merrill Stucki and Delos Stucki. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Donald, one grandson, Aaron Saunders, one great grandson, Bryan Milton Doxey; one great great-granddaughter, Aria Lily Holley; four siblings, Grant, Marvin, Jerry Stucki and Viola Stucki Wood. The family would like to thank CNS Hospice for their loving care of our mother. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, March 7, 2024 at 11:00 am at the Brigham City North Stake Center, 620 N 300 E., Brigham City. Viewings will be held on Wednesday, March 6, 2024 from 6:00 to 8:00 pm at Gillies Funeral Chapel, 634 E 200 S., Brigham City and on Thursday at the church from 9:30 to 10:30 am.
