Monte Jones

1939 –­ 2024

Monte Maurice Jones, 84, passed away January 7, 2024, in Ogden, Utah. He was born January 9, 1939, to John Earl Jones and Margaret Howarth in Butte, Montana.

He retired as a Tech Sargent for United States Airforce and served in Vietnam. As a second career he retired as a bus driver for UTA. Monte married Betty Louise Roberts on June 17, 1960, they later divorced after 24 years. He married Carolyn Struhs on November 29, 1986, she passed away January 13, 2002, after 16 years. He then married Connie Jean Goodson on March 3, 2003, who survived him in death.

Monte is a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He served in the Ogden Utah temple as an ordinance worker for 9 years, as Sunday School President and High Priest.

He enjoyed playing poker, fishing, bowling, ATVs, puzzles, yard sales, auctions, he umpired baseball, and softball, and was a collector of everything.

Monte is survived by his brother Arlen Jones, his children Anita (Mike) Smith, David (Marsha) Jones, Steven (Rhonda) Jones, Elaine Jones, Alice (Rusty) Compton, Betty (Matthew) Stears, Brenda (Karry) Reardon, Lisa Farrell, Paul Genovesi, Beckie Doermann, Richard Doermann, Dixie Weisgarber and Josh Doermann; 56 grandchildren and many great grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his siblings Harold Llewellyn “Wallo” Jones and Mabel Ladene Jones Goad; 2 granddaughters; 1 great granddaughter; daughter Arlene Margaret Jones.

Services will be Thursday, January 11, 2024, 11 a.m. with viewings Wednesday, 6-8 pm and prior to services 9:30-10:30 a.m., at Plain City 4th Ward, 2335 N. 4350 W., Plain City, Utah 84404. Interment at Washington Heights Memorial Park, 4500 S. Washington Blvd., Ogden, Utah.
