Donna LaJean Blickfeldt

Jan 15, 2024

September 29, 1937 — January 11, 2024

Our sweet precious mom, grandma, great grandma, and great-great grandma returned home to the loving arms of her Heavenly Father on the morning of Thursday, January 11, 2024, at the age of 86. She was born to Alice Henstra and Donald W. Barnes on September 29, 1937. She was raised by and loved as one of his own by Elden N. Andersen. She grew up in Ogden, Utah, and graduated from Ogden High School.

Mom married Douglas A. Blickfeldt on September 21, 1959, in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. They were blessed with four children: Douglas, Rick, Tim, and Cindy. She was an active member of the Roy 7th Ward, and recently a member of the ward at the Lodge Assisted Living in North Ogden, Utah. Mom had many sweet friends and neighbors from the Roy Ward whom she loved dearly. She enjoyed the time spent with her “lady friends” and loved attending the temple, going to lunch, and visiting with them. They meant so much to her, and we want to thank them for their friendship and love shown to our mother.

Mom held various jobs throughout her life, but her most important and rewarding job was that of wife and mother. She enjoyed spending time with her family, and she loved her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren with all her heart. She was very proud of each one of them. Mom enjoyed camping, boating, yearly family trips to Bear Lake, going on car rides with Dad to sightsee, visiting family members, making each new grandbaby a baby quilt, and family get-togethers of any kind. Mom was a feisty little lady and was never one to shy away from telling it like it was. This is something we will all remember about our mom, and we loved her for it. She always had a comeback and certain comments or wording that we still use ourselves. She was one in a million. She will be forever loved and dearly missed.

Mom is survived by her sons, Douglas (Susie), and Tim (Kris), her daughter-in-law Kari, and her daughter Cindy (Dee) Simmons. 11 grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren, one great-great-grandchild, with one great-great-grandchild on the way. She loved all her babies so very much. They brought her such joy and happiness. She is also survived by three brothers, three sisters, one sister-in-law, and two brothers-in-law. Also, many cousins, nieces and nephews, and the spouses of her grandchildren whom she loved as if they were her grandchildren. Everyone was loved by Mom, and they all knew it. A special thank you to all those who came to visit during her final days. She knew you were there, and we appreciated the love and support.

She was preceded in death by her loving husband Douglas, her precious loving son Rick, whom she missed so very much, her parents, a brother (Tom), her in-laws, two brothers-in-law, and three sisters-in-law. Her loving companion and loyal puppy Charlie Baby. He was her best friend and kept her company after Dad’s passing. What a blessing he was to her. She loved that puppy and treated him like a baby. He loved her right back.

We would like to thank all those family members who took such loving care of Mom during her final months. The tenderness and love given to her meant everything. We know that Mom was so pleased that her family came together to comfort her and each other during these difficult times. Many tender mercies and treasured memories came during those tender moments, and all the love felt during these times will be forever in our hearts. Thank you also to our special angels at the Lodge and Hospice (you know who you are). We love you and we appreciate the love and tenderness you gave our mom.

We love you, Mom. You were a blessing to each one of us. Please give Dad and Rick a big hug and kiss and tell them we love them and miss them. We will all be together again, Families are Forever.
